Love's Promise By: T.K. Chapin

Love’s Promise
Protected By Love Series: Book Two
By: T.K. Chapin

No matter how long you have been married, it takes both partners working together to make it work and sometimes it takes one event in life to change the whole dynamic of a good marriage.

“Love’s Promise”, the second in the Protected by Love series, is about Marie and Winston.   In “Love’s Return, the first book, Winston’s accident at Diamond Lake confines him to a wheel chair and the doctors say he will probably never walk again.

Even though Winston is a Christian, his faith has been rocked!  He suddenly blames God for everything and wants nothing to do with Him or even church.  He feels no one understands what he is going through and lashes out at everyone who gets in his path, especially Marie.  He wants his life back as the CEO of his body guard company, WIN, but without legs he feels he is worthless.

Marie has been married to him for twenty-three years and finds herself, for the first time, not knowing how to help her husband find his way back to God, because she has never been a believer.  She can’t understand why he can no longer talk to her or why he has become such a bitter, angry man.  They used to share everything.  She wants nothing more than for them to be the way they used to be—Happy.

After many tears and with a Church At The Lake flyer in hand, (this church just happens to be the church Winston was guarding the night he was shot),  after forty years of not attending Marie decides to give church a try.   She had no idea what to expect but knew she somehow had to try to help Winston and just maybe God was the right place to start.

As Marie and Winston struggle with their issues, Chapin shows time and again, how God works in the background of our lives to bring us closer to Him.   He shows how in tragedy, good can triumph.  Will Winston be able to return to God’s love?  Will Marie find the peace in her heart she is seeking?  Will their marriage succeed?  You will find the answers to those questions as read “Loves Promise”.

In this book, you will find love, healing, forgiveness and redemption.  Parts of this book touched my heart to the point of tears…please keep the tissues near-by.  This is an absolute must-read!

The Christmas Code By O.S. Hawkins

The Christmas Code
By: O.S. Hawkins
Publisher:  Thomas Nelson

“The Christmas Code” is the perfect solution for our busy lifestyles during the Christmas Season.  It will help bring you closer to God as you study and ponder the events leading up to His birth by reading the topic of the day, along with the scripture, devotional, a code word and a prayer.

It has 25 daily devotionals to celebrate the Advent Season.
It is small enough to fit in your pocket or purse.
It measures approximately 6x4x .25 inches.
Soft cover.
It is 60 pages in length and each devotional covers two small pages.
Each devotional has a topic, scripture, devotional, a code word and a prayer.
Affordable.

If you are looking for a way to stay connected to God during the Christmas Season, this little book is the answer.

The best part of the book for me is the code word.  Also this book would be a great gift to have at each plate-setting for Thanksgiving to start the Christmas Season off on the right track.

Blind Spot by Dani Pettrey

Blind Spot
(Chesapeake Valor Book 3)
By: Dani Pettrey
Publisher: Bethany House

FBI agent Declan Grey heard from the suicide bomber American soil was soon to be under attack, but no one knows when or the target.  It will happen!

All investigations lead to an immigrant community, but no one is talking, especially to the FBI.  Declan enlists the help of Tanner Shaw who is an FBI crisis counselor and an advocate for refugees.  He thinks she is the perfect person to help get answers from the community.

Although Declan and Tanner find there is a romantic spark between them, they cannot take time for their personal feelings because they are on a race against the unknown wrath that is to be released that would cause lives of thousands to be lost.

Once again Dani Pettrey releases another nail-biting, edge-of-your seat book of intrigue.  The suspense will capture attention and the characters will capture your heart from the first page and will keep you riveted to the last page.  Pettrey melds together just the right amount of intrigue and romance to keep the story moving.  Although this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone; however you will want to read the other three books.  I highly recommend not only this book but the entire series.

Pre-Release Review Need to Know by Karen Cleveland

Need to Know
By:  Karen Cleveland
Random House Publishing Group
Ballantine Books

After reading “Need to Know” by Karen Cleveland, I thought how am I going to write a review of this book without spoiling it for others? With that being said here is a bit about the book.

Vivian Miller, a CIA analyst wants a promotion in the worst way.  She has developed a system for discovering Russian sleeper cells on American soil that are simply living in plain sight.  As she is analyzing the computer of a Russian operative, she finds information that could turn not only her world, but her family’s world upside down.  How is she supposed to defend her country and her family at the same time?  Who can she trust?

If you are a fan of suspense, this book will catch you from the first chapter.  Although there are a few lulls every now and then, but in my opinion it has enough suspense and intrigue to keep you turning the pages until the end.

Love's Return By TK Chapin

Love’s Return
Book One
By: T.K. Chapin

Jessica McColler, a writer and reporter for Faith Builders Magazine, couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw Kirk Dekker in Milo’s Coffee Shop on her way to work one morning.  It had been five years since they last spoke.  The last time she saw him they had just finished a cross-country car trip from Albany, New York to Spokane, Washington.  On the trip she and Kirk became friends but nothing more would come of it because Kirk was Jessica’s best friend’s ex-boyfriend.

Before leaving the coffee shop Jessica gave Kirk her number, but as she left, Kirk knew he would never give her a call.  In his opinion she was in the past and best left there, because he didn’t want to relive the past five years.  It was filled with too many painful memories.

After Jessica is attacked by a stalker she hires WIN bodyguard agency to protect her.   Unknown to her Kirk is employed by WIN.  As the stalker becomes more dangerous and tries to kill Jessica, Kirk is determined to keep her safe at all costs.

I was totally captured from the first chapter!  Jessica and Kirk come with a lot of past baggage and have to figure out what is important to them as they become reacquainted.  Jessica’s faith is paramount in her life and she is not sure Kirk has the same feelings about God and faith.  Kirk has to learn to let God help him heal from the tragedy of losing his wife and son.  Will Kirk and Jessica be able to put the past behind them and find love?  Will they be about to let God help them find their way to a new future together?

Once again Mr. Chapin gives us another story of love, forgiveness, redemption and second chances, along with a little romance, mystery and suspense.   He also shows in his writing that God is always ready to guide us no matter where our journey may take us, if we only put our faith and trust in HIM.  This is a great inspirational novel and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

Grace, Hope and Love My Daily Devotional

Grace, Hope and Love
My Daily Devotional
Publisher:  Thomas Nelson

“Grace, Hope and Love” is a yearly Devotional crafted by fifty-two Southern Baptist pastors and ministers.  Each daily reading has a scripture verse, a commentary and a prayer to help you with your time with God.

The book itself is very luxurious.  The cover is soft dark blue faux leather with silver lettering. The left side is embossed with an elegant fleur de Lis pattern.  On the inside the print is crisp with an easy-to-read font size.  It lays open flat and has an attached ribbon book marker.

The devotions are a reminder of how God wants us to live and to also remind us to live in the center of his will.  They also remind us that no matter what our trial may be, God has it covered for us.

All Scripture, unless noted is from the NKJV Bible.  This would make an excellent masculine devotional.  This would also be the perfect gift for a new convert.
