Book Review-Still Life By Dani Pettrey

Still Life
(Chesapeake Valor)
By Dani Pettrey

Blacklisted photographer, Avery Tate, becomes a crime scene photographer.  Being hired by Parker Mitchell, a crime scene analyst, changed her life, but along with that change came feelings for Parker her heart needed to sort out, so after six months she left her job.

Avery suddenly finds herself back among those who blacklisted her because her best friend, Skylar, was going to have her photo displayed at an art exhibition and wanted her there for support.  However when Avery arrived her friend was nowhere to be found and her photo had a disturbing quality about it…she looked dead.

Avery calls Parker to help her find her friend, since the police show little interest due to Skylar’s past.  Avery and Skylar grew up in a trailer park and had gotten into trouble before.  The police wasn’t convinced this wasn’t one of Skylar’s wild escapades.

Parker is willing to help Avery because it will give him time to spend with her and hopefully show her that he has put Jenna in his past.  However, when Parker thinks Skylar is already dead, he realizes Avery may be in danger too and is determined to keep her safe at all costs.

The list of suspects in this story will be leading you on a suspense-filled journey that will keep you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails while turning the page with bated breath to see what happens next.

In my opinion this borders on the edge of being a psychological thriller, but in true Dani Pettrey style, she weaves her magic in presenting another great book woven with mystery, suspense, intrigue, and a little romance, along with forgiveness and faith.

If you are a fan of Dani Pettrey…this is series is a must-read!

Book Review-KJV Word Study Bible

KJV Word Study Bible
Publisher:  Thomas Nelson

I’m impressed!  I have totally fallen in love with this Bible!!  If you are like me and want to know the meanings of the words in the Bible that are Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic then this is the Bible for you!  It has over 1,700 word studies and select words explained in each chapter throughout the whole Bible.  I love being able to read the original scripture.  I have always loved the KJV Bible but this one has brought the teachings more to life than any other I have used.  I love the font size and the red-letter edition.  At the beginning of each book there is a summary of what the book is about.  I also like that each chapter is divided into subtopics and there are “watch words” listed at the beginning of the books.  There are a few very detailed maps in the back of the Bible.

Just a bit about the physical features:
It is imitation leather in a rich brown color with darker strips across the front.
Presentation Page
Table of Contents.
The Words of Jesus are in red.
It also has the usual word studies, English Word Index, Concordance and book instructions.
Nice size for easy carrying.
Crisp clear font.
Attached ribbon marker.
Lays flat when open.

I feel this will definitely become my new study-Bible.  If you are a fan of the KJV version Bible and love to study the meanings of the Greek and Hebrew translations this is a good Bible to start with.  Also if you are new to studying the translations this is a great way to start, however if you are advanced in your Bible studying then you may find this a bit simplistic.

Book Review-One Wednesday Dinner By T.K.Chapin

One Wednesday Dinner
(Diamond Lake Series:  Book 7)
By: T.K. Chapin

Newport Police Chief, Brody Jenkins, finally has his life on track…good job, nice home anything a man could want…but…he thought by this time he would have a wife, family and even a dog.  He can’t help but wonder, what are God’s plans for his future?

Jessica, a long time ago girl-friend, suddenly shows up on his door step with a seven-year-old in tow.  She informs him that Peter is his son.  She tells Brody she knows he will need proof and gives him permission to have DNA testing done, while she leaves him for a few days.

Not sure what to do, Brody turns to God, his pastor and friends to help him unravel the events that have suddenly turned his life upside down and to help him be a dad to Peter, if he is Peter’s dad.

Once again T.K. Chapin writes another contemporary Christian fiction romance/mystery that will capture your heart and attention from the first page.  There are a lot of unexpected twists and turns in this book that are guaranteed to keep you turning the pages.  As Brody’s once routine life is turned upside down, Chapin shows how easy it would be to leave God out of the decision –making and he shows how rewarding life is when you let God have control.  This book is in no way a “preachy” type book, but it is filled with inspiration and God’s love.  Although this is book seven in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone book.  However I highly recommend the whole series!!!  Way to Go Mr. Chapin; each book just keeps getting better.

Book Review-One Tuesday Lunch By T.K. Chapin

One Tuesday Lunch
(Diamond Lake Series #6)
By:  T.K. Chapin

“One Tuesday Lunch” is book six in the Diamond Lake series.  Although it is part of a series it can easily be read as a stand-alone book, however I highly recommend the whole series!

Once again in this book we are re-united with Miley.  She was introduced early on in the series and this book gives us a deeper understanding of her character.  When she meets the gorgeous marine, amputee hunk…Hunter, she is drawn to him in a way she can’t explain.  Hunter has a big chip on his shoulder and Miley’s friends, Serenah, Charlie and ex-boyfriend Brody advise her to use caution if she chooses to pursue a relationship with him.  Things really become complicated when Hunter is accused of murder and Miley’s faith is again being tested on another level.

If you are looking for a who-done-it book that is filled with mystery, intrigue, romance and subtle introductions to God’s love and mercy…this book has it all!  It will capture your attention from the first page and will keep you hooked until you’ve finished the book.  (I finished it in one setting…and then re-read it again).  I am happy that Mr. Chapin has added a bit more mystery and drama to this book for those of us who like a good mystery.

I have to say I think this book was written especially for me.  I struggle with turning my problems over to God and leaving them in his care and also with not letting my emotions control a “heat of the moment” situation.  Mr. Chapin subtly shows through-out this book, how sweet the rewards are when we put God first and truly give our problems to HIM.  In no way is this book a religious preachy type of book!

Thank you Mr. Chapin for another great book!
