Book Review-A Secret Colton Baby By Karen Whiddon

A Secret Colton Baby
By:  Karen Whiddon
Publisher:  Harlequin

Theo Colton, an ex bronc-riding cowboy suddenly finds himself with a baby dumped at his door by her dying mother stating she is his daughter.

Ellie Parker, cook for Theo’s ranch hands, finds herself being nannie to Theo’s daughter, Amelia.  She also realizes that the past she thought she left behind has caught up to her.  Her stalker has found her.  The drama for Theo, Ellie and the town of Dead River thickens as the mysterious virus that killed Amelia’s mother puts the town in quarantine, along with Ellie’s stalker and a thief.

This book is jam-packed with multiple subplots.  At times I felt a bit overwhelmed trying to keep up with who was on first.  The storyline went from Theo’s background story, to whining that life dealt him a bad break, to his family loving him enough to rally around and support him, to finding himself saddled with a baby, to Ellie Parker and her background story, the mysterious virus, the attraction between Theo and Ellie, the stalker and the thief. Wow! That’s a lot packed into one book.  It was filled with suspense, mystery, romance and tons and tons of drama.  It was fast paced enough to keep me reading to the end. I hope the next book will shed light on the cause of the mysterious virus and if they found a cure and if they caught the bad guys.
