Book Reveiw - Plain Peace by Beth Wiseman

Filled With Love and Inspiration

 Plain Peace
by: Beth Wiseman
Publisher: Thomas Nelson

Anna, could be called the perfect child, however at age 18 she is no longer a child and longs for a life of her own, but no one has the nerve to ask her grandfather, the bishop, for permission to date her.  A new Amish family moves to their community.  She meets Jacob Hostetler for the first time at a volley ball game and her heart is smitten.  She finally gets the nerve to ask him to take her to a singing to which he agrees.  A turn of events causes Ann’s grandfather to forbid her to see Jacob, but she continues to sneak to see him.   Will they ever be able to convince her grandfather that she is the wonderful granddaughter they have raised all these years?  Will he listen to reason?  Will Jacob and Anna ever find happiness?  Will her grandfather be able to trust her again?  Will he be able to deal with the changes taking place in the community?  Only as you read the books will you find the answers to these questions.
This in my opinion is one of MS Wiseman’s best books.  It is does not portray the Amish as the perfect people that many of us believe them to be.  It was refreshing to find they also deal with anger, frustration, deceit, adultery and lies and they can also be friends with the English.  MS Wiseman weaves a wonderful plot and pulls together all the issues that the Amish people experienced in this novel, but subtly interjects how their faith helps them work through each situation to obtain forgiveness and understanding.  It is beautifully written and filled with love and inspiration.
If you are a fan of Beth Wiseman…this is a must read.
