"Letters to Katie"
Thomas Nelson Publishing
Katherine Yoder has been in love with Johnny Mullet for as long as she can remember but the affection was not returned. Johnny feels that he is not good enough for her and struggles to prove himself by buying a farm to start his own business. Times are hard and Johnny realizes life can’t be taken for granted including his feelings about Katie. Before he can tell her how he feels she suffers from an illness that robs her of her short-term memory.
This book is filled with situations that we all could face, not just the Amish. As the story unfolds, Katie and Johnny both realize they have let their wants become the focus of their lives rather than God being the center . Not only is it a book about self- soul searching for God’s will but also about putting pride aside by letting others lend a helping hand, through love, prayer and friendship.
If you like real-life situations and are intrigued by the Amish community, it is a book that I would highly recommend reading. Letter writing plays an important part in this book, but so not to give it away, I’ll just say you need to read it to understand the title. It is an uplifting read.
