It's A Smorgasboard Of Cards

I have been busy, busy, busy and I love it... Summer is fast coming to a close.  I have been doing some school clothes and school supply shopping for Miss V.  She told me she now had all the "bestest" clothes in the world, and she feels like a princess... Well to me she is a princess.  Doesn't that sound just like the doting grandmother?  And I'm proud to admit that I am...

Anyway to get on to my cards that I have done for a few challenges this week.

I found this Rudolph stamp that I had never opened.  It is by Westrim.  I stamped it on Navy Blue cardstock then embossed it with white star embossing powder.  You can't see it here but it has a holographic sheen to it.  Love how it looks IRL.. Used the cuttlebug embossing folder swiss dots... you can't go wrong with this folder.  Added ribbon and brads from my stash.  Sentiment stamp is by  Studio G.. A dollar find at Michaels...
This fits the following challenge:
One Stitch At A Time  Say it with shapes  I used an oval
Stamptacular  Two is Better Than One... use two stamps.. I used the reindeer and sentiment stamp
Paper Cutz Challenge  use metal.  I used two navy blue brads

This card was very difficult for me to make for some reason.  I am not sure I like the papers I have chosen, but love the image.   The papers are from my scrapbox.
This fits the challenge for
Magnolia Down Under   orange, pink, green, brown, blue plus a magnolia stamp

I have never made a slider card before because I thought it was too difficult, however after making this one, I can promise you that I will make them again and again.  I am sure my Miss V will love the interactive cards and I am now thinking of one for Halloween.  This is just too cute.  All the papers were from my scrapbox. (I have been trying to use my scraps and it seems that my supply is NOT getting any smaller) Colored the image with copic markers and added stardust stickles to the candy cane...
Have entered this in the following challenges:
Scrappy Frogs Challenge  Slider card  ... Tutorial can be found  on this blog
Christmas Blog Challenge  What Do You Want For Christmas... Miss V said another doll.  (Not that she doesn't have a zillion of them already)

I love this image.  It has been colored with my copic markers and again used papers from my scrapbox.  Loving these clean and simple cards lately..
Alphabet Challenge  R is for Roses

While I was making scrapbook pages for Miss V's first day of school I made a couple more just in case I take too many picutres.. Here is another one that I have made to go along with the one I posted earlier .  Papers are DCWV and embellies are from????my stash

Challenges:
Stampin For The Weekend   Anything Goes

And that concludes my cards and creations for today.  LOL
Thanks for taking a look and leaving me much appreciated messages.

Hot, Hot, Hot! Cookbook with Spicy Recipes

I have been working on this little cookbook for awhile now and just got it finished so I thought I would share it with you.  There are lots of pictures (however this is not all of the pages) so grab yourself a cup of coffee or tea and sit back and scroll down to see my creations for today.  This was made  as a give away item for my sister.  She is a principal and loves to give my creations as Kudos for her teachers to let them know she appreciates what they do.  I have included my family's favorite spicy recipes.
All of the papers and embellishments I have used are either very old or from my scrapbox, so I have no idea who they are made by.  I thought they just looked cook booky!  LOL
I thought I would just be sharing today without entering a challenge, however when I got finished with it I found it fit the following challenges:
No die cuts, cuttlebugs, sizzix, nesties, etc.. Just scissors and paper cutter.  I have embraces my scissors and paper cutter in making this.
Inspirational picture.  I know the picture shows sweets, but I chose to use the color combo.  Hope it's ok
Hot, Hot, Hot...I've used hot colors and a hot topic...LOL

Sorry about the blurry pictures.  Some days my hands just shake...
Don't ya just love those chili peppers.  They are colored with my copic markers
The label is computer generated.  Don't ya just love that font with the little flames and my hand drawn flames at the bottom.  This was a really fun project.  The whole thing is made from scratch.  No notebook.  I covered my own chipboard and just went with the flow... LOL

Minature Cards

I used to make minature all the time as they are great for adding to a gift or adding a quick thank you in an envelope with an item that someone purchased from your store.  Nothing I like better than getting a handmade little card.  However I have gotten away from then, UNTIL... I went to Archivers a couple weeks ago for a make n take.  This is one of the cards that I made.  It is just too cute.  The card is a 3 x 3.
Cardstock is bazzill hot pink.  Sizzix die for the white embossed paper.. Chomper for the corners.  Stamp is Hero Arts and I am not sure who the emobssing powder is by.  My mind is not that good at remembering those small details anymore.  I didn't take paper to write down all the particulars. When I got home I make a hand made envelope to fit the card.   It is such a cutie I thought I would share only to find out this week it fits the challenge over at:
Allsorts  Minatures... less than 3 inches.

Christmas With A Fall Flair

Every year about this time, I come up with an unusual color scheme for one of my Christmas Cards and this year is no different.  I got this Just Rite Stamp and so much wanted to try it out, but I am also in the mood for fall colors soooo.... You guessed it ... I had these papers from DCWV for ages and thought I would give them a try to see how I liked it.  I am pretty pleased with the unique results.  What do you think?  You can be honest here.  It won't hurt my feelings at all...
Also it fits the challenge for
who has a color theme this week for olive, chocolate and pumpkin.  I have used all those colors in my birdhouse using my copic markers and then again in my backing papers.
This is my first attempt at using Just Rite Stamps.  I hope I get better.. I would love to have more of these stamps...but...

Multi Fold Light House Card

There is so much going on with this card.  Once I got finished with it, I decided it is probably one of my most favorite ones that I have made in a long time.
The papers are from my scrapbox.  The first light house image is from Our Daily Bread... Light of the World.. The second light house is Sweet n Sassy Stamps.   Compass stamp is by Stampabilities.  Footprints sentiment is by Stampendeous   Inkadinkadoo (Thanks for correcting me Connie, appreciate it.  My memory isn't what it used to be!) .. LOL.  Inside sentiment is by Heart and Soul Rubber Stamp Company .  Rope stamp is by Print Works
All matts were cut using Stampibilities rectangle, square and label dies.  Corner punch is SU
Jute twine is from my stash...

B Is For Blue & Back To School

Today I felt like a clean and simple card so this is what I came up with.  I also needed a card for a guy who is not feeling well so thought this would fit the bill.  The stamp is Our Daily Bread ..Light of the World.  An old stamp but one of my very favorites.    Cardstock is a steel blue clolor which I love to use when making lighthouse cards.  Black brads and Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  Sentiment stamp is Stampendeous and center circle was cut using a Spellbinders round die.   The ship's wheel is a freebie from Graphix Designs by Nikki
This fits the challenge for:

Next up I made this scrapbook page for when I take a picture of Miss V on her first day of Kindergarten.  I can't believe that I am so on the ball... LOL... So NOT like me...
It fits the challenge for:
Delightful Sketches  back to school ...primary colors

Emergency Sewing Kit

Have you ever had one of those days that you needed a safety pin, needle and thread and buttons?  I think we have all been there.  I made this "Emergency Sewing Kit" out of an old body powder container.  It was just the perfect size to use and to fit into a desk drawer.
All the things I have used are so old that I really don't know where I got them.  I think the flowers are from Wild Orchid, but then they might be Prima's???  Anyway I sprayed them with glimmer mists so they would match my paper, which is K and Co.  The doily is from my stash.  Punch used is EK success and Ms branch. Embillishments are straight pens that I added metal beads to and colored them with copic markers.  I then cut a silver metal circle in half to add to the floral arrangement.  I had purchased some mini spools of thread, scissors, seam ripper, buttons, tape measure, safety pins and needle threader at the local dollar store about 6 months ago, with no reason in mind to use them.  I love the results.  I hope the person I made this for can use it.
It fits the criteria for the following challenges:
Belli Challenge  round and metal
Lil Red Wagon  make an altered item
Paper Cutz Challenge   Anything Goes Challenge 55
I Did It Creations   Anything But...a card
One Stop Crafting  Not a Card

What A Combination...Flowers, Anniversary & Christmas

I couldn't sleep last night so I spent some time crafting.  I don't know what possessed me to start Christmas Cards, but I found these little snowmen in my swap box and thought I would use them .  I have no idea who sent them to me.  I colored them with copic markers added stickles star dust glitter to the star, pom poms on the hats, the stars and outlined the heart too!  The paper has sparkles in the centers of each of the diamonds.  The paper is by Pressed Petals.  I have never heard of the company but the paper was pretty and very, very inexpensive.  I got 16  8 x 8 sheets for 1.99 at Archivers.  What a steal.  My first splurge in months.  LOL I cut them to fit some thick chip board squares ,adhered them and added them to the center of my card.  I didn't want to add other embellishments because I wanted them to pop on their own, so ended up with very clean and simple lines.

It fits the following challenges:
Creative Card Crew  Sparkle n shine
My Time To Craft  Glitter and Glitz

The next card I made for my kids anniversary that will soon be upcoming.  I fell in love with this image and a dear friend stamped it up for me.  Thanks hun... also thanks for the flower shares too!  They are beautiful.  I know my kids are going to love it, especially my DIL...  Image ..Magnolia, colored with copic markers.  EK success leaf punch, swirls from sizzix die, background cardstock embossed using cuddlebug embossing folders and one for stampin up.  All other little doo dads are from my stash box.
This fits the following challenges:
Magnolia Down Under  It Takes Two -- Both Edwin and Tilda
Fab n Funky Challenge   flower power.

This was my fun card.  Love the bold colors.  Not my normal style, but I am trying to use bold colors more often lately.  I love them, but I am still afraid of them.
This was colored with my copic markers,  Can you believe that I found the perfect ribbon that was hiding my my stash box?  I had no idea I had it... added the little heart charm and found I had the perfect friend card.
It fits the following challenges
http://blog.icopic.com/  Color Theme  red, yellow, blue
YNS Challenge  bold, bright and summery colors

It's an Envelope..It's A Bag...No, It's a Bagalope!

I found this fabulous tutorial over at Nikki's Blog and just had to try it.  I didn't have a beautiful white recycled envelope like she had in her example, so I dug out the yucky orangeishy one  to make mine.  I have tried and tried to make one of these in the past but have never been able to get it just right.  With Nikki's instructions I had NO problems at all.  Thanks Nikki for such a great tutorial.  I am a visual person so the pictures really helped me...bigtime.  Anywho... this is my rendition of her bagalope and even with the yucky color envelope....I love it....This is going to be one of my favorite things to make when I need to give a small gift.
The papers are very old.. I thnk they were made by a company that has now gone out of business... Oh where is my memeory when I need it the most???  Flowers are all from my stash and were sprayed with glimmer mists.to give them some sparkle and shine.  The stamp I used for the sides of the bag is an oooooollllllddddd Hero Arts stamp.. from 2000 or 2001 (I think).  I used distress ink---brushed corduroy and swirls die from sizzix.

It fits the challenge for:
Lil Red Wagon  Altered item... I think this is pretty altered..

A couple Different Cards

These two cards didn't turn out on paper the way I created them in my mind.  Have you ever done that?  Then on top of all that when I photographed them the paper colors are all wrong.  I must have my camera settings wrong or something, but then I wouldn't know about that since I don't have a clue how to fix it, if that is the problem.  All I know how to do is aim and shoot!  Anyway they are much prettier in real life than these photos... The colors actually do match.

My card is a tag card made using adirondak inks and am image from rubber cottage. The background was stippled first then the image stamped over the top. Added a gold border using a krylon gold leafing pen.  The color of the Santa is actually plum and the backing cardstock is plum, why it looks the color it does is beyond me.  I added the green border using a MS punch, however I wish I had left the green off eventhough it is in my stippled background.  The snowflakes are puched not sure if it was a MS punch or Punch Bunch.  Ribbon is from my stash and the paper is from my scrapbox.  I added a bit of faux stitching around the outer edge.
This card fits the criteria for the following challenges:
Alphabet Challenge  Punches
Scrappy Frogs  Stitching faux or real
One Stitch At A time  Punches

For my next card I decided I hadn't used my Penny Blacks in a long while, so I brought this one out and inked it up.  What a cutie...
The paper is from my scrapbox... The image was colored with prisma color pencils and copic markers.  I didn't use a sentiment as I am not sure what I will use this card for.  It has so many possibilities, such as birthday, thinking of you, get well... you get the picture.

It fits the following challenges:
Raise The Bar   ABC--animals, brown, clean n simple

Splish Splash

Oh to be carefree!  Love this little image.  I don't know why my computer is not cooperating with my colors.  The color behind the little girl image is really green.  In the photo it looks gray.  Hummmm.... I must be doing something wrong....so what else is new?..... LOL
Loved making this card.  Image is a digi, but can't remember where I got it.  At one time when I bought images or downloaded freebies I put them in a folder that said digi images...not a good idea since my memory fails me regularly.  Now I put them in their own folders when I download freebies or purchase new ones, that way I can give credit where credit is due and I don't have to rely on my poor memory.
All supplies used in making this were from my scrap box and my stash.

This card fit the criteria for the following challenges
Secret Crafter  What are little girls made of?
ISB Challenge Dots... Dots in my background paper and in the center of the flower
I Did It Creations  Anything Goes

Back To School Challenges

I was doing some bloghopping this weekend and found several challenge blogs that were set to for the "Back To School" theme. It seems that everyone is anticipating the beginning of a new school year.   I made this card to send to my granddaughter for her first day at Kindergarten.  She told me on Friday she is "so ready" for big girl school.  I certainly hope so... I am truly excited for her, but I have a feeling I will cry all over again, just like I did on my son's first day of school so many years ago.  LOL  I am so NOT ready to give her up.

When I finished my card I found it fit the criteria for the following challenges:
Create With Connie and Mary   Back To School
Paper Play Time  School Days
Stampin For The Weekend Back To School
Paper Cutz  Back To School
Our Creative Corner   Back To School
Catch The Bug  Let's Go Back to School - Primary Colors
Stampin Royalty  Backt To School

For this card I used papers from DCWV -- School Days & K& Co --School Days.   digital image from the internet, which I colored part of it using photo shop, then finished the rest with copic markers.

Butterflies & Belli Challenge

My butterflies got into the stickles today, so needless to say I have glittered butterflies all over my card.  This card actually started out to be an ATC, that I had stamped at a make n take, but  thought it would make a lovely card.  I inked half of the ATC card and regular card with faded jeans distress ink and the other half  with pumice stone distress ink.  I then used a butterfly stamp by Hero Arts and stamped the butterflies in the same distress inks.  Next I added stickles to make them pop!  on the right side of the ATC I stamped the flourish with white acryllic paint and sanded it... tied a piece of twine around the ATC.. stamped a sentiment.  Before adhering the ATC to the card, I sprayed the card with shimmerz to give a little more sparkle. Very clean and simple but I  love how it ended up.

T-Slide, Z-Fold & Matchbook Folded Cards

Today has been a fabulous day as far as crafting goes.  I have been able to make a few things and have throughly enjoyed myself.  I didn't have Miss V  and hubby hasn't been home either.  That so seldom happens in this household and I have taken full advantage of it.  I should be cleaning.
Everything I used in the way of Designer Papers and embellishments are things that are sooooo old I have no idea who they are by.  Maybe not being able to buy new craft supplies right now is a good thing.  It is making me use things that I have been stroking and saving for... who knows what!  LOL

First up today is an image by House Mouse... love those little critters....can't seem to get enough of them and thank you dear friend for stamping them up and swapping with me... You know who you are.  You will never know how much I appreciate your kindness.

I found these papers in my stash that  appealed to me today.  You can't see the true colors but they are  old olive with a lighter olive dot.   I have pared them with burgundy ribbon, it turned out well.  I am not sure why the colors appealed to me today.  They are not my normal color scheme.  Image was colored with copic markers and added stickles to the wings of the dragon fly.  "Hang in there" sentiment is handwritten...something else I don't do very often.. Inside sentiment is by Inkadinkado
This fits the following challeges:

House Mouse  Vintage
Crafty Creations Challenge/  Winged things and a Z-Fold
Delightful Sketches  Animals or insects and dots and stripes..Instructions for the Z-fold card can be found on this blog

This Match Book card is a first for me.  I had so much fun making it.  All the paper used on this is from my scrapbox.  Border punch is Martha Stewart.  Image...Magnolia... notice I used a smaller fairy to cover the frog she is orginally holding.  Used shimmer paints from SU on her wings.
This fits the following challenges:

Double Dutch Challenge  Have You Got A Light?  Instructions to make this card can be found on this blog
Fab n Funky Challenges  Use your favorite colors... Mine are pink & Green
Lil Red Wagon  Summer theme... the colors I have used remind me of summer
Opus-Gluei  Dog Days of Summer--Whatever reminds you of summer... These colors  remind me of summer

Another first for me is a T-Slide Pop-UP Card.  Love the card, but as usual I did mine backwards, however it is ok by me to have it open on the opposite side than the instructions say.  LOL... I do everything backwards, even look at magazines from back to front.  LOL ???

Again papers are very old... I found them in my box rather dog-eared, one of them is 7 gypsies.  Not good for scrapbooking anymore but great for making cards.  Image is Imaginisce, inside sentiment--Stampendous, ink for image is Martha Stewart...something red (name is worn off)...

This fit the following challenges:

C Inspirations  Pop Up Card (the instructions for this T-slide card can be found on this blog)
Stamping Vacation  No Brads or eyelets.

Since I was having a love affair with this paper today, I thought I might as well finish using what I had left so I made a note pad holder using the rest.  Ribbon is from my stash along with the gems and metal findings that I have glued around the gems.  Leaves are punched from punch bunch punch, scored with a embossing tool and then inked to give dimension.  Flowers are Michaels bridal table confetti that I have pinched at the tips.  Wish you could see this color combo IRL... I love it.  Who knows it might become my next favorite color scheme...
This fits the following challenges:
Cute Card Thursday   Trees or Leaves
Paper Sundaes  metal  (the findings around the gems in the middle of the flowers)  challenged ended before I got this posted...

Blue & Yellow & An Easel

I had a few minutes today before my Miss V arrived and thought I would finish a couple items I had laying on my desk for about a month now.  I am not real happy with the results, however they do look much better in real life than in my pictures.
The first card is an easel card.  I have used magnolia stamped butterflies and colored them with primary copics.  Not too sure about that either.  Primarys are not my favorites to work with.
Since school will be starting soon here in our area, I wanted to make this to give to a teacher.  It has a sticky note pad on the bottom of the easel and little note labels on the top... important, notes, comment, urgent.  I thought it would be a nice welcome back to a teacher.
This also fits the challenge for

Delightful Sketches   Distressing.  I have destressed the edges of the paper with distress ink.

This next card is one of my favorite images by House Mouse.  No matter how I feel they always, always make me smile.  I used the sketch from Sunday Sketch And Stamp, although I flipped it to fit the size card that I wanted to make
The designer paper I have used it Basic Gray and I think it is Lime Rickey, however I am not sure since I took them out of my scrapbox.  Image is colored with copid markers and ribbon is from my stash.  These colors were a little out of my comfort zone too, but I thought it turned out ok.
This fits the following challenges.
Meljens Designs  Clean & Simple
ABC Challenge  A is for August
Pennys Challenges   Anything Goes
Practical Scrappers  Summer Themed
Crafty Catz  Buttons & Bows.  I did a half bow..
Allsorts   Primary colors, red, blue, yellow... must use at least two.  I chose blue and yellow.

For The Men--Game Box

I found this fabulous box over at Cindy's Blog.  She also has the link to the instructions for making this.  I wanted to make something for a guy and this was the best I could come up with.  Cindy's is gorgeous.  Mine is just ho-hum...

This fits the challenge for Secret Crafter  It's a Man's World

The papers used are from Imaginisce.. Very old paper... I added a deck of cards, poker chips, dice, note pad and a dealer chip. I will add some game books as soon as I get to the store.
