Old Friend --- New Blog

OMGosh! I am so excited.  I just found the blog of a friend that I had near lost touch with.  Although we have never met personally we met several years ago on a crafting forum, I thought I had lost all ways to contact her. However when I sent out mass mailings while changing all my emails over to a new account, I came across her email and decided to send an email.  I am so happy that I did.  She was a great source of inspiration to me when I first started cardmaking, and I know she will continue to inspire me now that we have reconnected again.  I also just found out that she has a blog.  You are in for a real treat.  She does some of the most amazing parchment work I have ever seen.  I can only aspire to do that.   You need to hurry on over and check out the beautiful card she has posted today!  You won't be sorry ... believe me, it's a true work of art!  Here's her blog Scrapin' Sabriel/...Don't ya just love blogging... making new friends and reconnecting with old.... I'm so happy today!
Sabriel..Thanks for the email and making my day...Good Luck on your blog  I can't wait to see your next post...

My Personal testimonial:
Having been a customer of iCopic for some time now I wouldn’t buy my markers any place other than iCopic. I have found them to be truly knowledgeable of the product they sell so don’t hesitate ever to ask them what you need to know. Their service and mail order is unquestionably some of the best ever. Copic Markers are my favorite medium to color with. I can see the two of us having a very long relationship. I have owned several copics for over a year now and they are just as good as they were the day I purchased them. I can’t say the same for other markers I have used. Please stop by iCopic and have a look around. I am sure you will be inspired to do a little “shopping” while you’re there. BTW, if you become a Gold Member…your shipping is free and they have made it so easy to become a Gold Member. I should know.. I’m one!

The two fabulous prizes up for this week are the Copic Ciao-Set 8 Manga Skin Marker +1 Multiliner Pen. (How I wish I had know about iCopic when I first started using them. Had no idea what colors to use for skin tones and they have taken all the guess work out of it.) AND the Copic Glitter (at you spica set B). If you are like me and love glitz, these are a must have in your crafting arsenal.
Up for grabs this week is the Spica At You Glitter Markers Set B

A Mousey Birthday Bash

When I started making this card 2 days ago I had no challenge in mind. I was just in the mood to use these lovely House Mouse stamps. Some of them are my own stamps and some were shared with me in a swap. I love these little critters. No matter what mood I am in, they always seem to make me smile.

Again using all old elements from my stash
the designer paper is from Girls to Women by Paper Pizazz
copic markers and at you spica pens
border punch by MS
chalk--Pebbles, inc
Tiny balloon stamp --the stamps of life
sentiment stamp -- inkadinkadoo --swirly
Cardstock...my stash

This fits the challenges for:
House Mouse Birthday
Alphabet Challenge L is for Lace
ABC Challenge You & Me
Charisma Cardz Pink

Yippie Ki Yea! Western Here We Come

A couple weeks ago, my Miss V went to VBS (Vacation Bible School). The theme this year was Saddle Ridge Ranch...Ultimately Western. I took several pictures of her throughout the week of their activities, interactions with friends and teachers. I just finished these pages over the weekend and was planning to put them in her album today when ... I found a challenge for Western... I have blurred the faces of Miss V and the others in the layout to protect their privacy. Much as I would love to share photos of my Miss V....it just "ain't safe no more"! I probably am being way to anal about it but.... LOL
Anyway the layouts are totally mine. I have no idea the names of the designer papers that I have used... However.. I did draw the horseshoes and inked them up to make them look somewhat rusty... I did a small layer over top of the large horse shoe and punched diamond shaped holes in them (don't ask why diamond shap..I just liked how it looked). I then adhered the extra little strips to the big horseshoe and colored in the holes with a black copic markers. I made the shoes out of silver mirri paper. Found these fabulous alpha stickers that I had in my stash so long, I have no idea where they came from or why I bought them.. They are wood tone.. Perfect for my page. In the next one.. I actually made the covered wagon, all except the wheels and those I used from clip art. For some reason my wheels just didn't look right no matter what I did to them.. I have to say in that layout... I did use the covered wagon that someone had built a full scale model out of wood at the church as my model. All in all I was pretty pleased with the outcome.
This fits the challenge for :

Cards & Challenges

Have you ever had one of those days, when you just didn't want to do anything, but craft? Well that is today. I know with all the internet issues that I have been having over the last 2 months and the decision to change providers, I should be transfering all of my email contacts to the new email provider and updating emails at websites...but I haven't been doing that...although hubby thinks I'm squirreled away in my craft room slaving over my computer (please don't tell him)...Nope I've been playing...LOL Here are the fruits of my labors.

The First card is one that I made using scrap papers, although I think the designer paper is K&Co. The flowers were from various flower punches and the swirl was from cricut cartridge...home decor, and I've thrown in a couple spellbinder nesties too! The centers of the flowers are little acylic hearts that I got somewhere, and it's colored with my beloved copic markers. The directions on how to acquire this cute little image is on the A Spoonful Of Sugar . I have made this card to send to Michelle... You can also read her story there, and I will add this card to their blog challenge. If you haven't taken the time to send Michelle a card, it isn't too late. Pop on over to A Spoonful Of Sugar for the details.
My envelope is ready and waiting for this card. Hope it helps to cheer her up.

Next up is and easel card.. (I do love making these cards) A friend sent me these stamped images to have a play... Thanks Hun... I am not one much to color animals as I can never seem to get the right shading and colors, but these turned out pretty good, so thought I would put them on a card and enter them in the challenge at Magnolia Down Under ...One For The Boys

Paper used in this card is Debbie Mumm, buttons and ribbon are from my stash. Can you believe not a flower in sight? That has got to be a first in a long time. Of course it's colored with copic markers.

This card is definitely on the simplistic side. I love the clean lines... gives it sort of an elegant feel. I started to say there were no flowers on this one either, but if you look closely at the heart in the center you will see that I embossed it with a flower folder from Stampin Up. LOL.. I used an old, old medium over the top of the embossing called Metallic rub ons. Very messy, but loved the outcome. I used the pewter color on black. Added a little silver ribbon.. Sentiment stamp is by Stampendous. After I adhered it all together I then sprayed it with pewter shimmerz by Tsukineko. Wish you could see all the sparkle and shimmer. Truly a card fit for an anniversary. It fits the challenge at Allsorts Challenge Hearts
Lastly I made this scrapbook page with my Miss V's picture of her first game. I have blurred the face and name purposly.. (is not like this IRL).. Used her team colors in the matting papers and mostly rubber stamps by Northwoods ?...I have misplaced the packaging.
I think this could fit the challenge over at Cinspirations Let's Get Physical..Sports. They are mainly a cardmaking blog, but hopefully they will let in an occassional scrapbook page.

Congratulations!

Jaci I know you have won before, however my email crashed so I don't have your address please mail it to me as soon as possible and I will get your stamps to you.

Tilda Is Having A Blue Christmas

I won this lovely little stamp earlier in the year from some blog candy and totally forgot that even had it until I was doing a thorough cleaning of my craft room.
I usually make a Tilda card for my Miss V for Christmas and this is it. She is soooo sweet.
The paper used is DCWV Winter. Cardstock from my stash Kraft color& white... I used spellbinders to cut the aperture and glittered the frame. (me and my glitter) . Tilda is colored with copic markers.. The ribbon I found in the bottom of a box so I have no idea how old it is or even where I got it, the flowers were so faded that I almost threw them away, but kept them as I thought I could always spray them with glimmer mists. That is what I did for this card and they turned out lovely. The background of the flowers is snowflake punches (3 of them from punch bunch) I glittered 2 layers of each snowflake flower. The sentiment is from crafty bitz, but again have no idea how long I have had it. I must clean more often. It was like having Christmas in July in my craft room. LOL

When I got this lovely little lady done I found that she fit the challenges for:
Just Magnolia A Recipe 3 flowers, 2 papers & 1 Ribbon
The Secret Crafter Apertures
The Paper Cutz Christmas no red or green
Creative Inspirations Oldest thing in your craft room. Mine is a toss up between the bibbon, flowers and sentiment, but from the looks of the flowers before I sprayed them, I would say they would have to be.

Tea Anyone?

I am so loving this tea dispenser from My Time Made Easy! Very easy to make and embellish. Great for someone who is not feeling well or is down in the dumps. Just put in a few gormet teas (I know Lipton doesn't qualify for gormet, but that is all I had that had wrappers), pop in to have a chat and leave your tea caddy. They will think of you each time they have a cup.

After yesterday's post with all those flowers I almost didn't post this one, but what can I say... Love those flowers. These flowers started out being cream. I mixed together some expired isopropyl alcohol with orange juice Memory Mists, added some blush perfect pearls to give some shine, put it in a spray bottle and instant color for my flowers to match my paper and ribbon. The edges on the center flower were deep gold. I took an orange ink pad and went over them to give them a darker edge. Thought it turned out pretty cool. The designer paper I have used is from a pack by Prima Marketing Inc...The Breathe Paper Collection. Have had this for ages and never used it. Ahhh with the economy being as it is..it is making me use a lot of those things I bought a long time ago and stored away for future use... I guess this is the future. LOL I don't know who the rubber stamp is made by.. it is one of those little dollar packs that I picked up at JoAnn Fabrics.
Oranges are not colors that I would ordinarily choose to use, because they are really out of my comfort zone. I am not sure where my inspiration came from but it could be because it has been so hot and oranges remind me of summer heat or the fact that last week my day lilies were in bloom and were orange and gorgeous. Whatever the cause for the orange, I am glad that I used it as I am very pleased with the outcome.

This fit the challenge for:
Stamp Challenge A Recipe
one designer paper, one ribbon, one image...the rest is up to you.

Punches, Bright Flowers, Glitter & A Card Holder

From the looks of all these flowers I certainly must have been on a flower "high". I do love flowers but am so allergic to them the only way I get to enjoy them is through stamps and papercrafting.
I was in the mood to experiment with a lot of different things. One of the things I did was take the corner guide off my punch from EK success and turn it into a border punch. I can't remember the name and they are not written anywhere on the punch. Once the paper is tossed there goes the name and my memory goes right in the bin with the papers. LOL The flowers were cut with a punch "Daisy"...I think... from paper shapers. The smaller flowers were punches from punch bunch. Inked the flowers using inks to match my borders and about 15 - 20 different rubber stamps. It would take me all day to list them.. (I'm a very slow typist)!
This fits the challenge at:
Cute Card Thursday ---School's Out For The Summer. You can make cards for teachers or just summery colors and images. Think my colors are pretty summery and summer is all about flowers!
Card Holder

The inside holder for my cards is made from an old acryllic box that I got some note card in a long time ago. You know we crafters, can't stand to throw anything out. I opened the box ends and flattened the box, then cut it in half. Put the end tabs back together and used redline tape to adhere it to my holder. Now how's that for easy? I am sure this is not an original idea..but I have been making these folder thingys for a long time, but always made the holder part out of chip board or card stock. This way is much easier.

Check out all that sparkle... I do love glitter

12 assorted cards fit into this card holder along with envelopes
The idea for the cards is not my idea. I saw it on a blog sometime ago and thought they looked so lovely that one day I would give them a go. Try as I might I couldn't find the blog again with the link. So if this idea is yours let me know and I will be happy to give you credit.

iCopic Lover has Washi Tape Candy up for grabs.

Here is a bit about another NEW product! Be sure to hurry on over to iCopic Lover and check it out. It ends July 16... Whether I win or not. I think I am going to have to give it a try.

We’d also like to introduce the newest addition to the iCopic catalog, Japanese Washi Tape, available Friday, July 2nd. When we first got our hands on washi tape, we were certain we’d have to share it with everyone. We wanted to stick washi tape on anything and everything, it became quite an obsession. Available in a selection of beautiful prints and a semi satin finish, washi tape is made of rice paper and extremely eco-friendly. Washi tape is used in crafts as a decorative border, for surface decoration, as a general adhesive and basically anything your creativity tells you it can be used on. Its closest counterpart would be masking tape; however, washi tape can be written on and leaves no residue when removed from a surface. We’re so excited to be offering washi tape and hope those who get their hands on some will enjoy it as much as we have so far. For our readers who have tried washi tape, leave a comment letting us know what you use your washi tape for and for our readers who are excited to try washi tape, let us know which print is your favorite. On July 16th one lucky winner will receive:

I Pampered Myself With Playtime & Challenges

It isn't often lately that I get a chance to play and join in some challenges, but yesterday after my granddaughter left for the day, I thought it was time to have a bit of "me time". I really didn't create any of these for challenges, but once I finished I found they fit a few challenges so thought I would enter them.

First up is a tea caddy that I made using a template from my time made easy. I loved making it. The designer paper is from SU. After finishing this I found it fit the challenges for:
Stamp Challenges Colors of Your Flag
RTB Colors of Your Flag
My flag is red, white & Blue

The center red flower is made from punched out flowers that I cut out petals to achieve the rose look. I sprayed them with Gimmer mists. Then sprayed the white and blue flowers with marshmellow glimmer mists. You can't see the sparkle, but it's there. I love how it looked.
Recipe:
SU Paper
cardstock...my stash along with the pearls & flowers except the one I made
flower punch from punch bunch
MS border punch
Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists
Next up I needed a gift package for a friend who is going through a rough patch right now.
You can't see on the tag, but I computer generated a sentiment that says... When Life Tosses You Lemons.....Pamper Yourself.
On the inside I put some toe separators for polishing your nails, nail clippers, file, bath pearls, chocolates, and a note pad. I mean really how can you pamper yourself without chocolate?
This fit the challenges for:
Cute Card Thursday Let's Get Fruity .... Used fruity colors
ABC-Challenge x-tra dimension .. The flowers are very x-tra dimensional
Dutch Dare Flower Inspiration

Don't you just love these handmade flowers? Again I used a punch and cut out petals and glued them together to achieve the look I wanted and then glued all the layers together, then sprayed them with tattered angels. Wish you could see the shimmer...
Recipe: K& Company
Plain ol kraft gift bag
peel offs (haven't used these in an age)
multiple punches from punch bunch & EK success
stamp from cee dees. (old one)

For the next card... I was in the mood to use Magnolia Stamps, but with our budget being so tight lately (thanks to the economy and cuts in medical insurance and pension), I have not been able to purchase any so I dragged out some old ones and got busy. Are you all feeling the pinch too?
This fit the challenges for:
Alphabet Challenge J is for jewels My pearl centers in my flowers
Totally Tilda Chocolate colors

Recipe:
Magnolia Stamps
Paper, lace flowers & Gems were all part of my stash
Cuddle bug embossing folder in paisley
Copic Markers

Last but not least... This card I actually made about 2 weeks ago, but haven't had time to post it and I am glad that I waited, because over at Just Magnolia they have a challenge this time to use a criss cross card. There is a tutorial for making one. However this is my earlier version and I have done it in the 5.50 x 4.25 card size rather than the square size in the tutorial. It was weird to see this come up. Again used a tilda that I had on hand from a while ago.
Fits the challenges for:
Crafty Angels favorite stamp and at the moment I'm loving this Hero Arts floral stamp and background stamp and my Tilda stamp.
Just Magnolia Criss Cross Card

Recipe:
Magnolia Stamps and Hero Arts Stamps
Paper from my scrapbox
Ribbon from my stash although I think this particular one is Martha Stewart
Copic Markers
Martha Stewart border punch
