Coffee & Cream

I made this card last week for a friend who is going through a tough time and I thought it might cheer her up.  When I got it finished I realized it wouldn't fit into an envelope so ended up making a box to match.
This also fits the challenge for
Paper Play Challenge  Coffee and Cream.
Creative Card Crew  Bloomin Marvelous....Crazy with Flowers

I didn't dare post it until I knew she had received it as she is a faithful blog follower.  Hope you are feeling better hun!
I think this is going to become one of my favorite color combos.

New Backing For Old Stamps--Top Tip Tuesday

Do you have some favorite old stamps that has no foam backing....that are just rubber?  (This also works on unmounted stamps)..  I have several old See D's stamps that I really love to use, especially my faux stitching and swirl ones, but I hate the fact they have no foam backing so I decided to experiment and this is what I came up with.  There are several grab a cup of coffee or tea and I promise to make this little tutorial as clear as mud.  I would also like to enter it in Top Tip Tuesday .  BTW if you haven't visited that new blog yet.... you really should.  They are having some wonerful tips and techniques posted their weekly.  Also if you have a tip or technique that you use, why not post it... You could win a fabulous prize.

Step 1:  Lay your unmounted stamp face up on the printed side of the EZ Mount foam backing paper and draw around your stamp.

Step 2:  Cut out traced image

Step 3:  Use removeable tape and tape your stamp to your acryllic block.  Turn EZ Mount cut out image over to unprinted side (this is the side that will be mounted to your acryllic block (cling side not sticky side) when it is finished..the printed side of EZ Mount is the sticky side that you adhere to the back of the stamp).  Peel off the paper but save it  to put back on when you are finished stamping...

Step 4: Ink up your stamp (I use Stazon, as it seems to last longer and dries quickly) and carefully line your stamp up over your cut out EZ Mount and stamp your image... Again make sure this is the unprinted side of the EZ Mount...the cling side not the sticky side.   Placed save paper back over stamped image to protect the cling side.

Step 5:  Turn your stamped image over and carefully remove the printed paper from the EZ Mount cut out that you just stamped.  Carefully position and line up  your stamp face up on this sticky side and press firmly to adhere.

Step 6:  Your stamp is now ready to use on your acryllic blocks.  When done remove them and store them as you do all unmounted stamps.
If I have made this as clear as mud please feel free to contact me using the link in my side-bar and I will try to further confuse you.  LOL..

A Toot For Starving Artists Stamps

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a sucker for flowers.  With all the allergies I have the only way I get to enjoy them is on paper.  I was doing a little bloghopping and found the most scrumptious flower stamps over at  Starving Artists  and they are giving away a whole set to some lucky winner.     This is a card that was made using the orchid set.  It is absolutely stunning.  You have until September 26th... so hurry on over and get all the details so you know you've done the right things.  When you blog be sure to tell them Sally sent you... You'll understand why when you read the blog.  LOL

Quick Tip

I love buttons but hate to use them as I have a hard time finding cording/thread that fits through the holes or what I have doesn't match my project. I can't take credit for this tip, but I love it...I read on someone's blog not too long ago.  I wrote it down and do you think I can find the paper I wrote it on to give credit?  Nope!  I'm asking what's a person to do when they can't even find their notes?  If you read this and it is your idea please let me know and I will most certainly  give you credit.  After posting these photo's it looks like I should have tried to clean my work space.  It sure is stained.

Today's tip is to cut ultra thin strips of cardstock, cut a point on one end

Thread the paper through your button.

Either tie it in the front to have ears

or glue it on the back so it's flat in the top

Volia it looks like a sewn on button.

I used these on a previously posted card which you can view HERE

Will enter this in   Top Tip Tuesday/

If you haven't checked out this new blog don't know what you are missing.  There are some great time-saving tips and wonderful techniques being posted there.  While you're checking it out I am sure you have a time-save tip or technique that you use to make your crafting easier.  Why not share it with the rest of us... Great prizes too!

No Card Today....Just A Comment And A Question

Lately I have been noticing that some challenge blogs are now limiting the number of  other challenges you can enter in order to be in their challenge. Last week one challenge blog stated you could only enter 5 challenges and today another challenge blog stated you could only enter 3 other challenges.   I for the life of me can't understand if your card fits 1 challenge or 100 challenges what does it matter?  It isn't that you are entering it 10 times in the same challenge.  When I make my cards.  I never have a specific challenge in mind.  As a matter of fact I don't even look at the challenges until after my card is finished so part of the challenge for me...what makes it fun for to see how many challenges it fits into after my card is finished.  I don't expect to win and as a rule I don't win. (have almost -0- luck  LOL) I don't go back to the challenge blogs to even see if I have won... The only time I know that I have won is if someone emails me to let me know.  So could somone explain to me the reason behind the limits?  There can only be 1 winner and chances are if you enter 10 different challenges with same are NOT going to win all 10 challenges, but if you do...then congratulations and could you send me a little of that luck?    Why take the fun from people who don't care whether they win or not?

Sorry for the vent, but I am really curious to know the reason behind it?

Crafting Monday

While I was waiting to for time to go see the acupuncturist today, I finished up a couple cards that I had started ages ago. Since I have been pulling out my "saved stash" to use, it is amazing what I am finding stuck away in bins and files, things  I started and never finished, so I am trying to finish off some of them.  It has been interesting to see where my thoughts were and where they take me now.  LOL

I don't know when I started this card, but found it with only the brown backing paper on the image.  With talking to Miss V last week she told me for her birthday she wanted bright cards because she is tired of having turkey type cards for her birthday.  That discussion came because she was born on Thanksgiving Day.  Anyway I dub the whole month of November as her birthday month.  Each week she gets a card with a little some thing in it and then on her birthday she gets her big card and gift.  ....Do you think this will pass her bright criteria?  Way too bright for my taste...LOL
I am entering it in the following challenges:
Pile It On Challenge  red, yellow, green and brown

Next up I found this little oriental image that I had tried my hand at paper piecing.  For some reason I can't seem to get the hang of that technique.  It always looks so pretty when it's on someone elses card but on mine it looks yucky!  Anyway I decided to finish it and I am still not sure I like it.   My jury is still out.

I am entering it in the following challenges:
Crafty Card Makers  Around The World
Mojo Monday  Sketch
Opus-Gluei  ease (l) into Fall

Leaves, Flowers & Folds

My card today is another one with a fall flair!  Just love these colors, however they don't seem to stay around long before the bare leaves and dark skies of winter will be here, so I am enjoying the color in my surroundings and in my crafting as long as I can.. LOL
Image is Magnolia and old one.. (that's basically all I have of those)..Papers are DCWV (several years old), flowers and ribbon from my stash.  Colored with ......are you ready?.....not copics.....but.....Distress inks.   LOL.   I bet you all thought I couldn't use any other coloring medium but copics.

As far as the fold goes.. I am not sure what I was trying to achieve. I was going for an angled tri-fold card but got my measurements all messed up and this what I ended up with, however; I decided it "ain't too bad".   My layout inspiration came from Sunday Sketch and Stamp  (Sketch)... I will enter it in their challenge, however it may be too loose of an intrepretation for them.  If so they can feel free to delete it.

I would also like to enter it into the following challenges:
Cutie Sunday   Fall Colors
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge   Grid... I have two grid types one in the designer paper and the background behind Tilda which I ran through the cuttlebug.
Magnolia Down Under   fancy folds

It's Beginning to Feel Like Autumn

This post is a continuation of the one I posted earlier today.
First card is made using a digi image from KLM Designs... Just love these flowers
The paper, ribbon and embellies are from my scrapbox and stash.
The image was colored with copics using these colors:  YG95, YG63, G99, E57, E42, YR02, E0000, YR35
Love all these autumnish colors.  This is probably one of my most favorite seasons due to all the vibrant color.
I am entering this in the following challenges:
iCopic Lover  orange, brown, yello
A Spoonfull Of Sugar  Fall Into Autumn (autumn colors orange, brown, yellow, red, purple
Creative Card Crew   Autumn or Fall
Stamp Challenges   Use a digi stamp
The Secret Crafter   Anything Goes

Next up  made a card using the left overs from the card above... Just because I liked the paper.  I used and assortment of punches for the leaves, a border punch from EK Success and the ovals from SU!  Pretty basic clean and simple card.  Like those once in awhile.
It fits the following challenges:
Allsorts Challenge   3 punches (different)

I'm sure it would fit most of the above challenges too!  LOL

Cards...From Elegant To Spooky

Happy Saturday!  We are experiencing some fabulous weather here in Northern Ohio.  Believe me we are taking advantage of these gorgeous days because they will soon come to a close.  Thursday hubby and I went to the apple orchard to get some fresh....really fresh apples...not those supermarket ones that says they are fresh.  The air was crisp and the apples  from the tree were fresh and crisp too.  The leaves are beginning to turn color and it made me realize that autumn is here, which is the reason several of my cards have an autumn feel.

The first card I made is very elegant.  I just love white on white with a splash of color.  I stamped the music image as my background and embossed it with pearl embossing powder, then stamped my sentiment with crimson (I saw leaves turning crimson), then embossed it with pearl embossing powder to make it more subtle.  The sentiment is from Our Daily Bread.  (Light of the World collection)
It fits the challenge for
Our Daily Bread   which is to use and all white card with a splash of color
Paper Pretties   Pearls, rhinestones or glitter dots

For my next card I used a digi image from Elizabeth O. Dulemba.. Just too cute to not use on something.
I colored it with my copic markers.  Using  BV02, BV08, C1, E25, YG23, Y08.. Those spooky erie colors were achieved without any blacks or oranges... LOL
It fits the following challenges:

Paper Cutz black or orange... Honest there is no black or orange in my colors.
Delightful Sketches   Pumpkins somewhere in your card
Stamp Challenges   Use a digi image
Copic Creations  shading in or around your image.  I shaded in both areas
The Secret Crafter  Anything Goes

A Christmas Birdhouse & Last Post Today...

My card is a little unusual for Christmas but once it was complete I was pretty OK with it.  I might even do a couple more.  LOL
I believe my image is from DZDoodles.  (not sure)... anyway it is one that I colored last year and didn't get a chance to finish it before Christmas.  Maybe that is a good thing as it is giving me a good start toward this year's cards.   I need all the help I can get.
Fits the following challenges:
Cute Card Thursday  Tweet and Flutter (bird or butterfly)... My image has a small bird on top of the house
Crafty Catz Challenge   Color combo...chocolate and green

Dear Santa

Can you believe I colored this Santa image last year and just didn't have time to make a card out of it before the big day arrived?  I have also had this paper for ages.  I bought it at some time at Joanne Fabrics when it was on the clearance rack and am just now getting around to pulling it out and using it.  It fit my image perfectly.
This fits the following challenges:
ABC Christmas Challenge  S-is for Santa (extra not red)
Alphabet Challenge  U-unused stash  (gems and paper, plus the image)
Christmas Blog Challenge  monochromatic Christmas card
Stampin For The Weekend    Tag it!  I added a little tag to my card

It's A Baby Girl....Dress Card

Bet when you saw the first part of that title you were thinking that I sure had been keeping a geat secret.  Nope not me... however my neice is expecting a baby girl at the end of October so I made this lovely little card for her.  You just can't go wrong with it for a girl.   I can't wait to see the new little one put in her appearance.
This Fits the challange for:

Paper Play Challenge  shaped cards - no squares or rectangles
Alphabet Challenge  U-unused stash...  Vellum
Penny's Challenges  Anything baby

Tag....You're It

I had this stamp for a couple years now and have never used it.  I didn't know what to do with it.  I wanted to make a tag and thought it would be the perfect time to put it to good use.  For some reason the tag doesn't look as pretty in my picture as it does in real life.  Hummmm wonder what I am doing wrong with photographing again?  Once I finished it I found it could possibly fit into several challenges.

My Time To Craft   Jewels  (I used jewels on the ornaments)
Paper Cutz Challenge   Anything Goes
Belli Challenge   Anything with the letter "B"  I have used the color blue and bows.
Crafty Creations/  Music and or dance.... I stamped a music background
Paper Sundaes   minimum of three types of embellishments.   (ribbon, gems and gitter added to my emossing powder)
Stamp Insanity  One Layer Wonders

I've had these finished for awhile now, but just haven't had time to post them.  I hope I am in time for some of the challenges.  If not it was still fun making them.

Our Creative Corner    Folds.. I folded designer paper to make a folded ribbon
Copic Creations  folds or pleats

Next I made a book mark for Miss V's return to school.  Hopefully it will make her smile each day when she uses it.
Fits the challenge for:
Opus Gluei  Alphabets
Dutch Dare  back to school book marks

2 Stamps In 1 Top Tip Tuesday

Although this isn't my original idea I thought I would share it with you.  When you purchase a clear stamp you can sometimes make 2 stamps out of one by turning it over and using the flat back side as a backing for the design side of the stamp.  The stamp I have used below is not the best to show this tip but I can't find the one I did originally.  LOL  Must be a "senior moment"
I thought I would enter this tip in Top Tip Tuesday   If you haven't checked it out yet be sure to do so.  There are some fabulous tips and ideas being posted plus great prizes to be won.

Place design side down on the acryllic block and ink it up with the ink of your choice

Clean the back side of the stamp and turn it over on the acryllic block and ink up the design side with ink of your choice and stamp over your background image

Now it's all ready for you to complete your card or project.

Top Tip Tuesday Has Some Great Tips--Be Sure To Check Them Out

No cards or scrapbook pages to share today.  I am still trying to recouperate from this past weekend.  So much family and so much fun to catch up on all the family news.  With all the work involved in getting ready for family reunions, I am glad they only happen once a year, but  I do wish we would stay in contact with each other better than we do.  With computers, email, twitter, facebook and cell phones you wouldn't think that would be a problem...but it is.  I am happy  so many of my dad's family will take the time out from their busy schedules to spend the day together.  It's like Christmas in September, lots of laughter, tears and  picture taking... All those Kodak moments are printed and put into the family album. (this was our 30th year and all 30 years are documented by pictures).   We have so  much fun with games, raffles and white elephant auctions.

Hey all you crafters out there.  Have you been to Top Tip Tuesday's  challenge blog yet?  If not you really need to stop by and read all the fabulous tips and tutorials crafters have posted.  While you are there take a few minutes to leave Leanne some love and to enter their challenge.  If there is something that you are doing to make your crafting more efficient... post it and share.  I am loving reading all the wonderful tips that crafters have left so far.

Top Tip Tuesday Debuts Today!

Today is the debut of Top Tip Tuesday.  Please be sure to stop by and wish Leanne well and while your at it leave your tip/technique  link back to your blog.  She has some fabulous sponsors this week.  Good Luck Leanne.

My tip/technique this week is how to make an envelope for those 3 x 3 size gift cards.  I am not very good at drawing and explaining things, but was asked how I made an envelope for those mini cards.  This is what I came up with.  I hope it meets the criteria.

It's Beginning To Look Like Christmas...In September

I used my one and only set of Just Rite Stampers again for this Card.  I just love these images and when I get enough pennies saved, I am sure I will have more of them.  For the challenge this week you were supposed to do Christmas and Glitter.  I was working on this card since mid-week so was really surprised to find it fit the challenge without even knowing what it would be.  I mixed black and silver embossing poweder together and added holographic glitter to give it that marcasite look.  I love it, however you can't see the sparkle and shine in my picture.  Believe me it is really there.  Also the paper is silver glittered.

Paper Sundaes   Christmas

From Babies To Halloween

I'm so excited today that I can hardly contain myself.  My sister is coming home for a few days.  It is the first time I have seen her in over a year.  I thought while I am waiting for time to go to the airport and pick her up I would pass the time by posting a few cards and things that I have made.  When I finished them and started going through the challenges I found that several of these could fit more than one challange.

I needed another bagalope to put homebaked cookies in so this is what I came up with.
It was a recycled envelope and all the papers are from my scrapbox and the embellishments are from my stash.  Image is WOJ.  For some reason the green colors look wonky in my picture but IRL they are lovely.  Honest...they really are.

ISB Challenge   girly
Creative Inspirations  color, green, cream

Next up is a baby girl card that I made using an Inkadinkadoo Stamp.  For some reason this always reminds me of the story "Good Night Moon"
It is a clean and simple layout.  The flowers are Michaels Bridal Table Confetti, swirl cricut home decor, gem & ribbon my stash.  Sentiment computer generated.  Background is embossed using the score-it.  Center was cut out using a round nestability and the cuttlebug.  Colored with copic markers and lots of stickles were added for sparkle and glitter
Stamptacular   Shades of Pink
Crafty Creations  white plus one color....It's obvious...PINK

I think this next card is probably my most favorite.  It was an experiment and I used a bunch of old things.
The image is Hero Arts.  I purchased 3 of these butterflies in a pkg when I first started stamping.  Brought them home and never used them because being a new stamper.... I didn't know what to do with them...
I had an old stamp pad by Stampcraft that has 5 colors of ink in one pad.  Don't have a clue why I bought it or where it came from but I inked the butterfly up with it  and this was the result... After stamping it I added Whisper Pearl Glitter embossing powder.  I wish you could see all that shimmer IRL.   Added jute ribbon and regular ribbon from my stash.  Flowers are Michaels Bridal Table Confetti that I sprayed with Creme de Chocolat Glimmer Mists and topped them off  pearls from Kieser Kraft.  The paper is Basic Gray Indian Summer....Last years paper.

Belli Challenge   Use an OLD stamp.... Mine is at least 4 - 5 years old
Fab n Funky Challenge   Material... can be ribbon, lace or make your own
Cute Card Thursday   material girl.. can be ribbon, lace, etc.

I don't make a lot of Halloween cards, but found this stamp in the bottom of a storage pail all gunked up.  I thought it would probably not ever stick to an acrylic block, but it is amazing what a little soap and water can do to put the cling back in your acrylics... LOL  Seriously I don't even know where this stamp came from unless it was a dollar bargin at Michaels that I let my Miss V buy last year.
Designer Paper is DCWV from last year or maybe 2 years ago??
I stamped the image again using the same ink pad as above and the same embossing powder.  I love the watercolor look .. Happy Halloween sentiment is studio G and is embossed with Marcasite embossing poweder... Love the sparkle it gives.   To finish it off I added a ribbon, charm and faux stamp stitching.  It was really a fun card to make and I love using the multi color stamp pads.

Paper Take Weekly  Just One of Something.  I used used on pattern charm, one ribbon and one image
ABC Challenge  charms
Delightful Sketches   Too Cute To Spook
YNS Challenge   Anything Goes
Moving Along With The Times   Stitching  Real or Faux
Paper Play Challenge   Stitching  Real or Faux.
