Lorain Lighthouse - No Designer Papers

Good Thursday Morning Everyone!
I think Indian Summer is quickly coming to a close and ol man winter is close on its heels. Boo Hoo! I would love to have a few more weeks of the wonderful fall splender.

Grab a cup of coffee or tea and sit back and enjoy all the lovely creations by our design team this week at Charisma cardz . The creations are simply fabulous. I will tell you a little more about it in a few minutes.

Thanks to all of you who joined in our challenge last week for Delightful Daiseys! Superb creations. I enjoyed visiting your blogs.

This week the challenge at Charisma Cardz has been set by DT member Jan.
Her Theme is:
NO DESIGNER PAPER
so hurry on over to the blog and get all the details and see who the sponser is for this week!

Rather than make my own designer paper this week I have chosen to use very clean lines to showcase this image. This lighthouse is about 5 miles from where I live. I love this old lighthouse. Hubby and I enjoy walking the beach or the pier to just look at it. It is no longer in operation but they have kept in very good condition. It is probably the most photographed image in this area. I have cross stitched it and always wanted a stamp, but could never find one. About 2 weeks ago at Adventures in Stamping I finally found it and it fell into my shopping basket. LOL Enough of a history lesson. The shutters are not really that red, but try as I might I cannot get them to photograph in the dark burgundy color that I colored them.

Match Box

This is the first time I have ever made a matchbox and it may well be my last. I had so much trouble trying to get the inside to fit into the sleeve. I almost gave up, but after 3 attempts I finally made it! LOL... It was really fun and it is so cute. I can't believe how much stuff you can put into that tiny little box.
It fits the challenge for Double Dutch Challenge

3 Cards and a Paper Craft = 8 Challenges

I took an hour before going to get my DIL, Miss V, & Dotty the dog to take a few minutes to make some cards. They didn't turn out exactly how I had envisioned them, but I guess they are ok. I think I am just very tired. I am not used to child sitting, dog sitting and adult sitting for 15 hours a day, but am just glad that I can help. My DIL is very good, she asks for very little. Miss V is feeling a little neglected. She told her mommy this morning that she was tried of her mom getting all the attention. LOL, then when I started to write up this post, she told me I loved the computer more than I loved her. NOT LOL. And the dog wants my attention too!
Anyway I thought the cards I made fit a couple of challenges

The first card is for Lord Have Mercy The paper is from Dove Craft last year, ribbon from my stash and the image was sent to me in a swap a couple years ago.

The Next card fit 2 challenges:
1. 2 Sketches 4 Youusing their sketch
2. Everybody Art Challenge Halloween
3. Stamp Something/
It is a little plain, but my mojo just wasn't lettng me think what else to put on the card.

The next card is for:

1. Paper Take Weekly Using their sketch
2. ABC Challenge/ Fl is for flying

The Candy Box for:
1. MAWTT using their sketch and background paper must have text on it.
2. Cute Card Thursday/ Candy themed.
I asked my hubby to get me some good candy bars for this box that looked a little Christmasy when he went to the grocery store today. He came home with 3 Muskateers. Can you guess why? Of course, they are his favorites. LOL

Happy Birthday To Me!

Happy Birthday To Me... Seems my family forgot that today is my birthday...so thought I would sing to myself! LOL.. Actually have been crafting a little this morning so will be back with some pictures either this evening or tomorrow. Am off to pick up DIL and GD. I have left them by themselves for an hour now. Need to fix them lunch.

Delightful Daiseys In Indian Summer

Well now that title doesn't make one ounce of sense unless you live in Northern Ohio and happen to be on the DT for Charisma Cardz. You see this past week we have been in the midst of Indian Summer here and it has been glorious in more ways than just warm weather. The trees are in full color and their splendor is magnificent. To me there is nothing that compares to the beauty of the colors of Fall, And this week the lovely Carly has chosen
"Delightful Daisyes"
as her theme for our challenge. It was a pretty easy challenge to do since the weather was so summer like. So hurry on over to Charisma Cardz to get all the details and who our fabulous sponsor is this week. I can't wait to see what you create!

Your entries for It's Distressing this past were terrific! Each entry was so unique. Well done and thank you for taking part in our challenge at Charisma Cardz

My card this week was made completely out of scrap pieces of paper. The sentiment stamp is so old the name is worn off. (It is well used) It is one of my favorites. The leaves really are green, not black.

Penny Black

Sorry for the poor quality photo, but the weather here in Ohio is just not in the mood to co-operate with me. It had been awhile since I had done a Penny Black Challenge. I needed a thank you card so thought I would use what I had on hand. The image is by heart and soul. I used an old, old technique on it, which was glitter and glossy accents. Not sure that I like the outcome. The sentiment and the dragon flies are from Penny Black clear stamps - Salutations. I used versamark on the dragon flies and then used blush pearl-ex. The papers and ribbon are from my stash.

Whoo Hooo 6 Challenges - One Card!

Six challenges with one card! Now that never happens to me, especially when I didn't even try to plan it!! I admire those ladies out there that can do up to 12 challenges with one card. I'm surprised that I could even do one card with all that has been going on here. Last evening son rushed DIL back to ER. She was having a reaction to her meds. We ran over to take care of Miss V and didn't get home until after midnight. I had just about finished this card, so this morning I got up and finshed it, then started looking through other challenges to see if I could do another quick card and found that my card fit several.

1. Just Magnolia , bright and zingy Hope this fills the bill. Used bright red and bright blue and green on her dress.

2. Basic Grey Challenges color combo, red, blue & green

3. Everybody Art Challenge Shapes. I am hoping my square and my tag count as shapes

4. Friday Sketchers This fabulous sketch. I love the simplicity of it and will use it again and again.

5. Stamp Something Bling. I think with all my glitter and pearls I have filled the bill with bling

6. Secret Crafter Use and old stamp or image. I used this stamp of tilda that I have had forever. I had forgotten that I had it.

Cricut - Home decor

Favor Boxes

Our monthly challenge this month at Charisma Cardz was to create a favor box. This is what I have created. The first box I inked the raised images on the paper with Brilliance pearlesence beige, but left the petals white only inking the edges. Added ribbon and it was done. On the second one I glittered the petals added a heart on 3 of the 6 panels and added white and gold braid trim.

This also fits the challenge at Moving Along With The Times which is create anything but a card.

It's Too Distressing For Me!

Goodmorning everyone!
It's Thursday and it's cold here in Northern Ohio. They say we might have snow mixed with rain tomorrow and I really didn't want to hear that...Oh well it's Northern Ohio, what do I expect.

I would like to personally thank each of you who took part in the challenge I set for Charisma Cardz this past week. Your creations were fabulous and I wish that each of you could have won.

Now on to this week's Charisma Cardz' Challenge. It is set by DT member Karen. She has chosen
"DISTRESSING"
I don't think she realizes just how distressing it is for me to crumble and tear up paper, sooooo I was doubly distressed this week! LOL, however it is fun to step outside your comfort zone from time to time. I truly did have fun with this challenge. Please stop on over to Charisma Cardz to get all the details and see the lovely creations by our DT. They are stunning and while you are at it don't forget to visit their blogs. You won't be sorry that you took the time to do so.

The image I used is from sparklensprinkle. I just love this snowman. He's got an attitude. My designer paper is Basic Grey and the rest of my cardstock is from my odds and ends box. Colored the snowman and his sign with copic markers. Added white fleece (from sparklensprinkle) to his hat. Love the effect of the fleece. Added fleece and glitter to the top of the sign to create snow and icecicles. Ribbons are from my stash. Sentiment is from TPC Studio.
I distressed the green cardstock with a distressing tool from Tonic, crumbled the green cardstock, straightened it out, then sprayed it with a little water. Crumbled it again, spread it back out to let it dry. When it was dry I distressed it with white pigment ink, let it dry then added my image. I also distress the edges of the image with chalk.

When It Rains It Pours

My phone started ringing at 6:45 AM yesterday and I thought to myself, this cannot be a good sign, but it was just my DIL telling me David would stop by and leave off Miss V's medication after he dropped her off at school. I thought wow that was sure a relief. Nothing to worry about there. My relief, didn't last very long. The next phone call I received was a call from the hospital emergency room doctor looking for my son. I thought Kathy had been in a car accident and all kinds of things ran through my mind in the space of a few seconds. They told me that she had fallen down the steps at work. I told them he was due to be at my house in a few minutes and I would relay the message. As it seems DIL got to work a little early so she was in the employee lounge waiting for time for her shift. She started down the steps to the time clock and fell. She broke 3 bones in her ankle completely in half and broke her heel. She had to have emergency surgery. They were able to repair part of the bone by putting in a permanent plate, but was unable to put a plate in another area as it would stop the blood flow. They had to put a brace on the outside of her ankle with screws going from it into the bone to help pull the bones together and there has been nerve damage, but they won't know the severity of it until later. The doctors told us that Kathy would go through hell over the next 2 months so to be very patient with her. She will also have to have surgery again to have the brace and screws removed. She will need total care for the next 2 months. I am hoping she will make the decision to stay with us during the day at least so we can take care of her and then David can watch her at night.
As I sat at the hospital with my son I felt so helpless as to know what to do to alleviate his anxiety. I have never seen such a look of despair on any one's face in my life, but it was at that moment, I realized my son truly loves his wife and he would be so lost without her. In spite of all that has happened and all that we must go through yet, God has been so good to us. It could have been so much worse and it could have been her right foot instead of her left, which means at some point she will be able to drive while she is still healing. He also gave the doctors the skill to know how to put her ankle back in place and I am assured that He will keep her in His loving embrace while she is healing.
Poor Miss V doesn't know what to think. Last night when I was putting her to bed she said her prayers and a special prayer for her mommy. She was up since 3 this morning worrying about her mom. I sat in the rocking chair holding her and talking to her about her mom and how she could be a big girl and ways she could help her mom when she comes home from the hospital. She finally fell back asleep a half an hour ago.
If I am not around much for the next few months, I hope you understand I will be reading your blogs, just won't have a lot of time to post. You all will be helping me keep my sanity. Thanks for listening to me vent!

Fresh Baked By Me----NOT

Yep! Fall is definitely in the air here in Northern Ohio. However fall is a funtime here. We can go to the apple orchards to pick apples and all the fall festivals makes it worth the change in climate, but I know that is not why you tuned into my blog. You wanted to see my creation for the challenge at Charisma Cardz, because it's Thursday and a new challenge has been set by ME! I chose the theme of a
RECIPE.
1 ribbon
3 flowers
3 papers
1 charm
My only stipulation is that you HAVE FUN! You may create anything you wish.

Our sponser this week is The Cutting Cafe. You won't want to miss their prize this week. It's fabulous!

I was sorting through my templates and found this one for a triangle box and thought it would be a great project. I used odds and ends of paper scraps that I had laying around to make and decorate the box. I used digi images from The Cutting Cafe. You will notice that I changed the wording on the tag a bit, to say NOT as I seldom bake anymore. LOL The Cookie plate charm with my tag was made using the digi image on shrink plastic. The flowers are prima and Michaels Bridal Table Confetti.

This one is a journal that I covered using Prima Flowers and K&Co. Papers. Swirls are from sizzix. Flower centers and ribbon is from my stash.

Update on new Doctor

Several of you have emailed me to find out how my appointment went with the new doctor. I thought after my rant of a couple weeks ago I would tell you that so far, I like her very well. She sat and listened to me talk to her and then she started her exam. She told me that I have Lupus, which I was not happy to hear, but at least now it has a name. Then Monday at 2AM I was awakened by the excruciating pain in my left side again. I went back to see her again. (They got me right in) and she said I have Celiac's Disease. It is confirmed by a simple blood test. Now you mean to tell me it has taken years for someone to come up this diagnosis after all the CAT Scans, MRI's. Ultra Sounds, colonoscopys and God only knows what else I have gone through. All it took was a simple blood test. She gave me meds for the pain and told me it would take awaile of watching my diet before I would start feeling better, but at least I now have something to work with. Learning to eat again is going to be a problem, but if it keeps this horrible pain away then I am willing to learn. Thanks for all you comments and emails.

Grandma's Pearls of Wisdom

Wowzers! It's Thursday. I don't have a clue where this week has gone, but it sure went somewhere. I didn't have Miss V this week and I still didn't get a thing accomplished to speak of. LOL Guess I can't blame it on her anymore for not getting my work done.

Anyway since it is Thursday you know that means it is A New Challenge Day at Charisma Cardz

Last week's entries were fabulous! I was so impressed looking at all your "sporty creations". Well done all of you!

Now on to this weeks' challenge which as been set by our own DT member Joanne. She has chosen "Decoupage" for week 29s theme. I can't wait to see your creations. I know they are going to be lovely. Be sure to stop on over at Charisma Cardz to get all the details.

I found a poem some time ago that had so much truth to it, that I wanted to pass it on to my granddaughter. (I don't know who wrote it) I wanted a picture of us together, but since I usually take all the photos I had to wait until someone took one of us together and I wanted it to be candid, not posed for.

I used papers from SU. Cut out the flowers and decoupaged them. Added tons of pearls since the poem was about pearls of wisdom inked the edges of the paper with rangers distress ink, linen and added some swirls cut by the Cricut Home Decor cartridge. I think this will be one of my favorite pages.
