Charisma Cardz Challenge Week 17

What a fabulous challege this week at Charisma Cardz, which is set by our own Leanne. For this week's theme she has chosen "Thank You"! Loved doing this challenge as I did a candle which I have never tried before and I couldn't believe how easy it was. I stamped and colored the image on tissue paper with my prisma pencils and gamsol to blend, then heat set it to the candle. Added my embellisments and this is the result. Next I made a card to match! The only thing missing is a gift bag. Maybe next time.

I was doing some blog serfing today and came across this blog Stamp With Us on Donna's blog. I loved her card so much that I went right to the blog for this challenge and forgot until this moment to comment on Donna's entry. As soon as I finish here I promise to leave a comment on your blog, Donna. Must be a "senior moment"!!


Anyway I did this card x3. The first 2 times I used more than 2 patterned papers, DUH! Obviously I can't comprehend what I am reading either. LOL It was a recipe for 2 patterned papers, 4 brads and one ribbon.

Dots & Stripes

This week at Paper Take Weekly their challenge is Dots and stripes. I was working on this card before I saw their challenge so I guess it was meant to be! All of my paper is from my scrap box. Ribbons and charm are from my stash. Dahlia is a digi image shared with me long before digi's were popular. Pearls are Mark Richardusa.

I am the only person I know who can set a camera on a tripod, level it with a level and still take a crooked picture. LOL

Lazy Day With a Little Card Making

It has truly been a hot beautiful day here in Northern Ohio. Had we not had such a wonderful breeze I would have been indoors with the AC on already. LOL Love the sunshine, but I am not a hot weather person. I thought today that I would give Christine's Sketch for Challenge 32 at Basic Gray a try, since I have not done this challenge in awhile.

I broke down and used my Marrakech Pad, now I think I am going to have lie down for awhile to get over the trauma. LOL

K Is For....

After I did my last post I was looking at my desk and saw this card I made last evening. Since I didn't want to take the picture at night I set it aside and forgot all about it.

ABC this week is having the letter "K" for keeping it simple. This is my idea of keeping it simple.

I added lots of Shimmerz to the flower. I wish it would show up. I looks so pretty!

No Creativity Today!

No creativity today, but that is not entirely true. My parents kept Miss V for me today so I helped hubby with some much needed yard work. I weeded the side flower bed, then those around the shed, from there all along the back of the house to the fence and then in front of the fence. After that I had to quit as it was way too hot for me. After hubby mowed the lawn we planted some hydrangeas and reworked some of the landscaping in front of the house. My butt is dragging this evening. All in all I felt like we got a lot accomplished. I have to get the weeding done before we have topsoil and mulch delivered and I want it done before my brother comes home at the end of May. I had to replace all my landscaping lighbulbs but one. This winter was really rough on them. LOL. I probably won't be able to move tomorrow. LOL... I'm not planning on doing a thing special anyway, but if you could see all the dust bunnies playing on my floor in the breezes from the open windows you would say I need to do something....like at least run the dust mop! Hope you all had a wonderful day.

Charisma Cardz Challenge Week 16

First of all I really feel honored to be part of the Charisma Cardz Challenge DT. This is my first challenge with them and when I saw the great sketch by our very own Claire I knew immediately what I wanted to do with it. Using Claire's sketch for this week, I have made a scrapbook page using my favorite subject--Miss V--I never tire of taking pictures of her. For Easter her poppy got her this monkey puppet that makes "monkey noises" when you close it's mouth together. She nearly drove us crazy with it so we sent it home with her. Isn't that what grandparents are supposed to do? She was also trying on a new outfit that Nonnie got her so if you look closely you can see the tags still hanging from the side. LOL. I used no patterned paper! I must be sick. The cardstock is Bazzill Bling.
The monkey face is not a die cut, it was made by me. I tried to make it like the monkey face on Miss V's top. It took me 3 hours to accomplish this as I can't draw a straight line with a ruler much less thinking I could draw a monkey. After much trying I finally punched out a bunch of circles in different sizes, glued them together until it resembled a monkey face, then I traced around it, thus coming up with this design. And as they say "the rest is history" LOL

2nd Post Today - Baby Invitations

Be sure to scroll down and see the previous post of the day. I just finished these baby invitations and thought I would invite your comments. I made 50 of these for a gal who wanted to have a family style baby shower rather than the traditional lady gathering. She is having a luau theme so we did her cards using the same colors. I really enjoyed working with these colors as they are a bit different for me. I tend to lean more toward the pastels. The only thing I didn't like about making these was punching out 250 fern leaves. NEVER again! My hands were so sore! LOL I dropped them off to her a bit ago and she seemed very pleased with the results. For posting perposes I have used Photo Shop to remove addresses and phone numbers, but they are really on the originals, honest! LOL

Color Create Challenge

Wow! I'm on a roll this week, another challenge chalked up to my credit! Since pink, black and white are one of my favorite color combinations I just had to give this a go for the challenge at Color Create and not only that I had just finished coloring this day lily from Heart and Soul Rubber Stamp Company (link in my sidebar) and couldn't wait to use it.

Another Challenge For Me This Week!

I have used Dawn's Sketch this week from Paper Take Weekly to make this cutest little gift bag.

I received the image in a swap so not sure who the stamp is from. (Note to self: Start writing on backs whom they are from and the stamp name) I am not real thrilled with how the coloring of my image turned out. My orange is a little too orange but no matter what I did I could seem to tone it down. You can just barely make out the sentiment in the lower left corner. It says Thank You! I needed just a tiny stamp.

Quick Way To Change An Envelope

I was working on the DT challenge, and it was to make or alter an envelope. For this one I just altered a plain white envelope. I stamped an image from Heart and Soul Rubber Stamp Co. (link is in my side bar). I colored it with prisma color pencils and gamsol to blend. I then masked off the image and sprayed both sides with gold and jazz blue Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists. Certainly puts a new spin on a plain white envelope and it's quick!

This What I Have Been Up To This Week

This is a rather long post so I am sorry for that, but I have a lot to show. Actually I wasn't going to post these, but a friend wanted to see all of them so thought the best way for her to see all of them was to post them on my blog. I have really been busy this week. I was asked to make 25 Digital Baby Cards and 25 Sympathy cards. I don't often do these. I think the only time is when I am asked to do so. I am so glad they wanted 25 of the same design for each of them.

Next I was asked to make 12 magnetic Post It Note pads and 12 Folding Desk Calendars for a lady to give to her Secretaries for Secretary day. This is what I came up with. I only had 2 days to get them done so this is the best I could do in 2 days time. They are all different.

These Magnets are my own design.

I love these little calendars. I made them years ago when I had to stamp each month out or set up my own grid on the computer and fill in the days and months. Now you can just download them from the internet, which makes it much easier. I had forgotten about them until a year or so ago I saw that someone made one on their blog and decided to make them again. They are 5.5 x 4.25 . I decorated each season then added the ribbon at the bottom to give stability for spreading open to sit on your desk.

I Am Excited I Have Been Chosen For A DT

Ahhh you will have to read the details in this post to find out whom I am going to be a DT member for. I just got the news at about 9 PM UK time this evening (Thursday). Never in a million years did I expect to be chosen. I am so excited. I can't wait to get started. I think this is going to be a lovely challenge for me and I am looking so forward to it. From all the reading I have been doing I can tell you right off there is a whole host of lovely crafters on this team. Their work is gorgeous. I just hope I can live up to their standards. I have had several of you email me to ask if I would take photos of the cards individually that go with the card holder that I made in a post below. As most of you know I hate taking photos of my work. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING I do makes them any better. I seriously am beginning to think I am Photo Challenged. Anyway I will do whatever I can to not take pictures so that is the reason I took them all together. But since you asked. .......here they are. No apologies this time for the bad photos. LOL

Card Holder With Matching Cards.

Between working on orders and running to and from the docotor's office I have taken some time to make some fun items. I made this card holder acordian file with matching assorted cards.

Sorry for the bad photos but I have finally come to the conclusion that I am photo challenged! LOL I keep working on taking better photos and they keep coming out awful. I am beginning to think my granddaughter can take better photos than me. LoL

Scrapbook Page

Hi Everyone. Been awhile since I just blogged, so first of all I would like to say I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. I hope that you were able to spend time at church and then time with your families.

My son and his family went to his inlaws yesterday so I just had my parents over for dinner after church. We had a lovely visit so I am happy they could come. My mom is losing her hearing more and more everyday so it was difficult at times for her to follow the conversation. I pray daily that if it is God's will He will not let her lose her hearing completely. It would be awful to live the rest of her life in silence. I miss not being able to carry on a good conversation with her anymore. She gets so frustrated when I have to keep repeating, but she doesn't seem to understand that I don't mind. I am just so happy to have my mother. Ahhh enough!

I did take time yesterday after noon to scrapbook my Miss V's picture of with the Easter Bunny.

I'm not terribly happy with how it turned out. Nothing like I had imagined in my mind. LOL. She loves it so I won't change it.

Totally Out Of My Comfort Zone

I have been using so much pinks, purples and greens in my creations lately, that I thought maybe I am in a rut. As many of you know I am horribly allergic to anything with pollen, including flowers, which I dearly love. I watch my flowers grow from inside the house from window to window. LOL Today I was looking at the beautiful daffodils and narcissis with their lovely yellows and deep orange trims and fell in love with the color combo. This is not something that I would have used without the inspiration of my lovely spring flowers.

Have you ever had one of those stamps that tends to lend its self to what ever you are making? The one you always go to when you can't settle on anything else? Since I purchased this rubber stamp from Heart and Soul Rubber Company (link in my sidebar), it has fast become one of my very favorites. I never seem to tire of coloring it. It is the one that just lends itsself to whatever I am making.

Funky Fairy Challenge 11 "Dare To Be Square"

After working on my creation this week and visiting the DT Blog to see their lovely works of art, I found that there has to be one in every group that must have the wrong intrepretation of "Dare To Be Square" ! I thought it was a play on words so promptly created a triangle box using all Funky Fairy papers. Eventhough my project is NOT SQUARE! I had fun making it.

Funky Fairy Challenge Color Theme Green

Can you believe that it is Challenge 10 already over at Funky Fairy Challenge? The DT has been busy these last 10 weeks just crafting their hearts out and each week just gets better and better. Their work is superb. Be sure to stop by and check out their lovely work. This week I wanted to make a card, but once I got started it turned into more than a card. This is my own template of a note pad holder with pocket.

I have used paper from http://www.funkyfairyspapercrafts.com/shop/index.php. Paper used is In With The Old and Vines Are Distressing Volume I. Flower centers and ribbon is from my stash. Embossed gold vines is from a clear stamp that I can't remember the name of. Sorry! Prima flowers started out being white, but I ended up spraying them with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mists in Pearl and Terra Cotta. I wish you could see the shimmer. They are so pretty.

Stamped Image is colored with copics which are quickly becoming my favorite and I didn't think anything would replace my Prismas. The image is one of my favorites and it came from Heart and Soul Stamp Company. There is a link in my sidebar. Be sure to check it out. You won't be sorry I promise you!
