Mojo Has Cabin Fever

With the winter snows we have been having and the bitter cold, I thought I was content to stay in the house and not venture out anywhere. Even my hubby asked me today if I wanted to go craft shopping and I told him no! LOL I must be sick. We have about 18 inches of snow on the ground with the promise of more to come at the beginning of the coming week. It is so cold it is not melting. Anyway I have tried to create about 6 cards today and none of them are worth posting, however I will post a couple. I think my Mojo went simplistic on me or it has to have Cabin Fever.

The first card is using a sketch from Friday Sketchers Blog by Carole. It is a fabulous simple sketch so I thought I would make this card using very clean lines. The image I used for this card is from Chris's Digi Stamps, which I colored with my copic markers. The rest is basic cardstock, ribbon and brads are from my stash and the sentiment stamp is a clear stamp and I can't remember who it is by. Sorry.
Second card is for a Challenge from Anna Banana Creations I loved the sketch and I love the papers that I have used but for some reason there is something missing. I will keep working with it or maybe toss it in the recycle bin to rework at some point in time.

The background paper is Laura Ashley, Sentiment from Sweet N Sassy Stamps , A True Friend set #1065 Used Cuddlebug scalloped ovals, Prima flowers from my stash, pearls from Mark Richards. Inked the edges with black soot from Ranger and Brilliance lavender. Tiny flower stamp is another stamp that I can't remember who makes it. the leaves/branches are from a Martha Stewart Punch.

An Up Date And A Card

Yesterday I went to the doctor to have my sutures removed. My 4-yr-old granddaughter wanted to go with me so she could watch them take out those "dirty black things" She told her Poppy that it didn't even hurt. LOL. Easy for her to say! It was a little ouchy, but because she was there I just smiled, which probably in all reality was a grimace. I do digress when I start talking about my Miss V. Anyway my fingers are working pretty good and I think I am doing great. God is Good! My wrist will take a little longer, but the doctor said I could start doing some limited crafting so with that I made this card. It is still difficult to stamp, but after 6 attempts I finally suceeded.

Now for my card:

I love these glads. It is a stamp from Heart and Soul Rubber Stamp Co.. (If you haven't visited them, stop by and check them out, they have fabulous stamps at terrific prices). I have colored it with my copics. I am not thrilled with the outcome, but I am determined to not give up on them. I cut it out using my cuddlebug and spellbinder oval nestabilities. I then mounted it on Peachy pink paper and added 3mm pearls from Mark Roberts. The background paper is from K&Co Designer pack. the hearts and buttons are from my stash that I colored with my copics to match my picture. The lace is from my friend Bev, who sent it for me for Christmas. The sentiment is from Sweet N Sassy Encouragement group #1015. (love these sentiments)! I used a sketch from Stamp with Sarah Kay. It felt good to be making a card. Ok, Ok. I promise not to over do it.

Another Just For Fun Card With A Tip

I made this card before I had surgery, but just didn't have time to upload it before the "big day". I loved making it. I love tulips. Actually I love all flowers and I am so allergic to them the only way I get to enjoy them is by picture! LOL I don't think I have ever seen blue tulips, but that was the mood I was in soooooo... Anyway the tip is not the card, but the flat backed pearls. I wanted brown ones and haven't been able to find them so I took the white pearl ones and colored them with my copic markers. Now I can have colors to match my projects perfectly. You all probably already knew that. I have a feeling I will be investing in a lot of white pearls. LOL

Many of you have emailed me to ask where I got the stamp. It is a 2001 PSX stamp from Santa Rosa, CA. It is now retired. You might find it if you search google. This is one of the first stamps I bought when I started stamping and I got it at a garage sale for $5.00. LOL.. Wasn't sure I would ever use it, but it has become one of my old stand-by favorites.

Update On My Hand

I am so blessed. I have received so many wonderful emails and blog wishes from so many of you. Believe me it helps with not being able to craft. Typing is a bit of a challenge, but it is also good therapy. I went to the doctor yesterday. He removed the huge bandage and I came home with two bandaids. LOL... An hour and a half surgery for 2 bandaids. Can you beat that! Anyway he said the sugery went well and asked if I had any numbness because that was a major concern since the areas were so close to the nerves. I can honestly say that God answered your prayers because I have no numbness anywhere. I am able to make a fist, albeit not a tight one but at least a fist which is some thing I couldn't do before the surgery. I couldn't even hold a small cup of coffee and sometimes not even a piece of paper. They told me I could type a little but not a whole lot as I don't want Capel Tunnel before this heals. LOL... I have not had pain meds since the first day. I hate those things and I am so thankful that the pain is tolerable without them. I promise I am being good and not using my hand except how they told me to use it and I am doing my therapy everyday eventhough it hurts something fierce. Hey, I forgot I can even move my thumb. I hadn't been able to do that for about a year now. Isn't God so good to me? Thank you all so much for your prayers, emails and good wishes. They certainly help to pass the long days. I go next Wednesday to have the sutures removed.

Hugs,
Sally

Tag Game

Well this is a first for me. I have never played a game on my blog before, but evidentally Linda over at Pinks and Lilacs thought I could handle it. LoL She doesn't know me very well!

The instructions were to navigate to where you keep your pictures, choose the 6th folder then choose the 6th picture and tell about it. Well this was mine. I had taken this photo to place on another space as we were to show off our craft space. I never got around to it so now I am showing it off here.

1. Navigate to where you keep your pictures, select the 6th folder, and the 6th picture in that folder.

2. Post the picture on your blog with an explanation about the picture.

3. Tag 6 others to do the same, and let them know they have been tagged!

Here are my 6 friends:

Marcea, Sam, Kaz_za, Saetta, Val, Nicola

To All Of You

I had to have surgery on my wrist, thumb and finger today due to tendon damage, so if I don't post for awhile please understand it isn't because I don't want too. Also I will try to post comments to your blogs, but they will probably be very short. I think I am going to go through witdrawl. I got new stamps today from Sweet N Sassy. Thought I could stamp....WRONG!!! LOL
Until later.

Roses On Paper Challenge 4

I had a few extra minutes today and thought while I had time I should make a card for my granddaughter for Valentine's Day. I have chosen Tilda because she is so adorable just like my Miss V. However, I must share a little story with you about the Miss V and the Tilda stamps. The first time she saw me stamping one of them she watched me for awhile and was very quite. After I finished and started to color them she then asked if I could stamp her some of the "little girl mooses with clothes on them". Needless to say everytime I use Tilda I think of Miss V and it always brings a smile to my face.
The pictures don't do this card justice at all. I wanted to get this posted this evening so there is too much glare. I have used the sketch from Roses On Paper Challenge 4.
Background paper is Basic Gray, Urban Prairie. Tilda is sitting on a heart cut from a Cuttlebug die. She is adhered to a folder that I sprayed with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Pink Ink. The small hearts are from the MS punch. I saved them when I punched the border of hearts for something else. LOL. I have colored Tilda with Copic Markers. Wings have Star Dust Stickles on them. She is adhered using foam pads. The flap opens to reveal a place to put a gift card, which will be from Toy r Us. I used the slit punch from SU for the closure. For the right side I used left over peel offs in white to adhere 2 more little hearts salvaged from another project. I have also covered them with Star Dust Stickles. The flowers are Michaels Bridal Table Confetti. Swirl is Sizzix. The sentiment is Studio G, stamped in Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy and I used the SU large oval punch.

My Second Post Of The Day - Just For Fun

This is my second post today. I will do anything to keep from doing what I need to get done. LOL
These cards were made with no challenge or particular reason in mind. I just felt like making some cards for no reason. These are what I came up with.

A Challenge With Blog Candy Attached

I was blog hopping the other day and came across this blog that has blog candy with a challenge. Be sure to stop by and congratulate Linda at Purely Stamping on reaching 10,000 hits and enter her challenge.

I am not sure I am really happy with this card as it didn't quite turn out as I had envisioned it in my mind. (That mind of mine is playing tricks on me again. LOL). Its a tad on the plain side.
Anyway I had fun with the challenge. The background papers are from MME. The stamps are from SU Refuge and Strength #7. Paper ribbon was sent to me by a dear friend along with the raffia ribbon, to which I inked both of them using Brilliance Dew Drop in Cosmic Copper. The cross was stamped with Cosmic Copper and then embossed using Judikins Pastel Embossing Powder. The sentiment was stamped in clear and then embossed with Copper Embossing Powder by Ranger. Corners on the sentiment are from SU punch and little details are from sizzix. Matting paper is mirra copper from my stash. Flowers are Michaels Bridal Table Confetti in white that I sprayed with Memory Mists Copper. Centers are from my stash.

Magnolia Vs. Sampavie

I thought before I got started with today's activities I would get this little note pad posted, but we had so much going on this morning that I am just now getting around to it. I just loved this little Magnolia Stamp and had to use it. I don't know what it is called as a friend shared the image with me. Brought the prisma pencils out again for coloring and the spica markers for sparkly highlighting. The flowers are by Prima. the leaves are Martha Stewart branch punch.
Background paper - Studio D - Prima Marketing - First Blush, Mat paper is Paper Adventures - Paper al fresco- Cerise. ( I only had one little scrap of that and I love it. boo hoo). Spellbinder ovals. The sentiment stamps are all Inkadinkadoo & Our Daily Bread. This fits the challenge for Magnolia Challenge so I have added.

Penny Black Challenge 31

I thought it time to get back to some challenges. I made this card using a Penny Black Stamped Image, thanks to a wonderful friend. I have added this to the challenge at Penny Black. Their challenge this week was pink and brown, which is a favorite color scheme of mine.
The back ground paper is from last year's K&Co. Valentine pack, the rest of the paper is from my scrap file. The image is colored with prisma color pencils (had difficulty getting the results I wanted on the bees). Hello Stamp $1 stamp from Michaels, Ribbon from my friend, Bev. Flowers are Prisma and the findings and heart brad are from my stash box.

The Moment We've All Been Waiting For

First let me tell you this was not easy. I didn't have a bowl large enough to fit all the entries, then ended up putting them in this huge box. Hubby was not very willing to draw but told me if I left off his face he would do the honors. Here are a few photos. I lost the picture of the photo of hubby drawing the 2 prizes out of the box. Have no idea where I saved it too. I'm techno-challenged. I hope you forgive me. Hubby really did do all the drawing. Sorry for the poor quality photos.
All the Entries:

Too Many For My Bowl:Big Box Held Them:
The Moment You've Been Waiting For: Drum Roll Please

And Winner #1 Is:

Sally! Happy Anniversary and congratulations on your hits!!! I think you should give it away in TWO bundles, spread the wealth...but then the other part of me says ONE BUNDLE would be cheaper on the postage pocket book. So either way around - it is GREAT CANDY! THANK YOU!

Chrissy Please email me your information.. Also you get to choose if you want #1 or #2 as most people commented that would only be fair. Congratulations!!!

Drumroll Please for Winner #2

Fantastic blog candy. Please enter me for it. Love your wonderful blog too Sally. Think you should have two drawings gives another chance for someone else to win too then. Happy Anniversary too. I dont have a blog. Thanks so much. Phyllis

Phyllis, please email me with your information. Congratulations!!!

And now for the special drawing.

When I was doing my Blog Candy, I thought about having people sign up to be a follower, but then decided it wasn't fair to ask people to do that just because they wanted a chance to win , so I didn't, but as the contest continued I got the nicest surprise. So many people became my followers, not because I asked them too, but because they wanted too, so I have made up an extra little package as my way of saying thank you. I put all my followers into a bowl, had hubby draw the winner, then added them to the general drawing. It means a great deal to me.

And The Winner Is:

Blog Candy Entry Has Ended

The time has come for my blog candy to close. Hands down your votes have spoken and there will be 2 winners. I wish I could have given everyone something for entering. I never imagined I would have 325 entries minus a couple duplicates in there. For a first time not so bad, hey! I have had so much fun reading your entries. I just want you to know that for all of you who entered and had blogs, I visited EVERY SINGLE blog. I didn't take the time to post to all of them, but I did browse and read.

Many of you emailed me that your entry wasn't added, however I checked and double checked each entry and all are there that did everything they were supposed to do. Some of you while looking for your post forgot to go to the next page. Had far too many posts for one page. Now that it has closed I am in the process of printing 52 pages of email entries,(next time I will learn to use random picker or something LOL) which I will cut into stripes and have hubby draw the winner. (Not Miss V as she will not be here until late tomorrow). I know all of you are dieing to know who won. (me too). Also several of you posted more than once. I tried to catch those and only publish one post, but I see that I didn't catch all of them, however when I finish printing, all posts from the same person except one will be pulled from the pile, that way it is fair to everyone.

There will also be a special surprise tomorrow, so be sure to stop by and see who won the special surprise.

Thank you so much for entering my blog candy give away and for taking the time to visit my blog.

Be sure to Stop back tomorrow to see who won.

Magnolia vs. Stampavie

I can't believe that I was able to get another challenge done today. I didn't have Miss V so that helped a lot. It gave me time to play some before my hubby got home from work. Once he gets home, gets the snow cleaned from the driveway we are off to run some more errands. I should have done all of it yesterday when the weather was better. So much for procrastination.
Now to my card. I don't know what possessed me to do yellow other than it is one of my favorite colors. I can't wear it because it makes me look ill, but it is so cheerful. For the front, I used K & co Designer pack. Magnolia stamp that I colored with copics. Sentiment from WOJ, assorted prima flowers, centers from my embellishment stash, & oval punches from SU. For the insert I used left over paper and my border punch from Martha Stewart and another flower from prima, centers from my stash and left plenty of room for me to either stamp my thank you sentiment or handwrite a message. The back is left over paper and the sentiment is from Hero Arts. I have entered it into the Magnolia Meets Stampavie Challenge/ , using there sketch and theme of thank you.

Finally A Challenge or Two!

Found this lovely sketch over at Basic Gray Challenge Challenge 16 so thought I would give it go. You had to use at least one element of Basic Gray which I did, the background paper is from Two Scoops line.
Since I used a Penny Black Stamp I found that my card also fit the criteria for their challenge week 30
You needed to emboss. I cut the circle using my Spellbinder dies, then embossed it using the Cuttlebug Swirls folder. I used a scrap of white core paper and then sanded it so the swirls show up. Cut fancy corners using my Cuttlebug. ribbon from my stash. I used my prisma color pencils for coloring. Haven't used those in awhile so I really did enjoy getting them out again.

Not Normal Cards For Me

This is not the normal type cards that I make, but I needed something quick and easy so this is what I came up with. I was pretty pleased with the outcome. The card blank is from Laura Ashley, so I didn't have to co-ordinate papers. I do so love it when thats done for me. I just added some ribbon from my stash, prima flowers, sizzix flourish, Swarovski crystals to the flower centers. Sentiment stamp by Inkadinkado. Ink Versa Magic Dew Drop Pumpkin Spice.

Out of the two this one is my favorite, but the photo doesn't do it justice. It is one of those cards you need to see in person. The ribbon is from my stash. Have had it for ages and never used it, but it is red braid with a silver thread. Flower is Sizzix daisy, centers for the flower and charm are from my stash. Embossed card with Cuttlebug dots. Leaves are Martha Stewart branch punch and the sentiment is by Inkadinkado, Ink is burnt copper by Color box. I didn't want the entire sentiment so I masked off the part I didn't want to put on the front of my card.

Difficult Day

Since I only have one blog, I cannot divide my family from my crafting and not that I really want too because I get 90% of my inspiration from them.

Today is my Dad's 84th birthday and should have been the usual celebration that we normally have with family gathered round, having pizza, cake and ice cream. Not dietary in any way, but then hey, it's a celebration. I always sit and watch my dad's reaction to the family members around him and for the most part he is a quiet man and you can see the tenderness in his eyes as they travel from one family member to the next, and should your eyes meet his in that glance he will mouth the words "I love you" or "your beautiful". My dad has always been an affectionate man, and has always shown his children so much love along with his stern discipline. But today was not the usual birthday celebration because we had to bury his last remaining sister. Dad took her passing very hard as she helped to raise him when he was little, so thay had a very special bond. For years my dad never missed a week of making that 50 mile round trip to visit his sister unless he was ill and then he would always call to talk to her so she wouldn't worry. He would always take her something, a piece of fruit or piece of cake that my mother had baked. I can't even begin to imagine how difficult these next few months are going to be for him.

As I sat with them today at the funeral I truly realized how fortunate I am at 58 years of age to still have my dad and mom with me and in reasonably good health. As the minister spoke I let the words he said sink deep into my soul and left the funeral service with a calm peace and renewed spirit. As we drove to the cemetary we reminisced a bit and my dad gave me some smiles. The cemetary was old and the road into it was not very well paved. As we walked to the grave my dad would stumble while holding to my arm. After about the 3rd time of his being frustrated from the near stumble, I said dad do you remember when my brother and me were little and you took us to see our aunt and uncle who lived on a dirt road and we had to walk part of the way to get to their house because the road was so bad you couldn't drive? He nodded that he did. Then I asked him if he remembered what my brother said, he started to smile and I said your right he wouldn't have liked these sidewalks one bit because the stones make you stumble. He stopped, looked and me and truly laughed. After that when he stumbled, he just said, I don't like these sidewalks either!

After the interrment we went to a hall for a family dinner. There were close to 100 relatives there. One of my aunt's granddaughters got everyone's attention and they sung happy birthday to my dad, so even in death they celebrated his life. That will always be so special to me, because in their grief, they put it aside to honor my dad. Out of 8 children there are only 3 left now, all in their 80's. Not one of us knows what the future holds, but whatever it is.....I'm thankful for my DAD! (and mother)!

Anniversary Card

Sorry I cut the side off my card insert! I am hurrying so to get things done, I am making lots of mistakes! LOL. I wanted to share this card. My hubby and I will be married 39 years this month. Not only did I marry the love of my life, but I also married my best friend. (I didn't know that at the time). I chose this stamp from Whiff of Joy, Herb in Love because my hubby and I got married on the coldest snowiest day of the year. So much so that when we left to go on our honeymoon we got stuck in the driveway! LOL. I have often wondered what possesed me to want to get married in the winter, but I always dreamed of a winter wedding. Must have been dead spot in my brain at the time or maybe just being in love. I didn't want the stamped image to look too Christmasy so I used a feather to cover the holly on his hat, a ribbon to cover the holly on the bell and a flower brad to cover the holly on her hat. For the hearts I used punch bunch heart punch and stamp from Whiff of Joy and masked off all the words but love. Paper is from Basic Gray Bittersweet. Happy Anniversary stamp is from Stampendeous. I chalked the edges with Color Box Chalk ink, dark brown. I truly feel that my husband makes me complete! Hope he likes it.

Some Scrapbooking Pages

I can't believe it is January 2nd already! I seem to have missed January 1st, but I know it came as I cooked dinner for us and my parents. My dad's sister was doing very poorly yesterday so he and my mom spent the day at the hospital. While they were away I cooked the traditional New Years dinner for them, took it over, left it in the fridge so all they had to do was nuke it when they got home. (What did we do before microwaves). I am sorry to say that my Aunt only lived until this morning and the Lord then saw fit to take her home. She just celebrated her 95th birthday on Monday. It has been a trying week.

Now on to what I have been doing since the day after Christmas. Scrapbooking & scrapbooking & scrapbooking some more. To date I have scrapped 20 - 12 x 12 pages, & 26 - 8 x 8 pages. I even got Christmas 2007 finished. Whoo Hoo... These are not quite up to the standard that I normally would scrap with with a bum hand and trying to get all done before my surgery I am working FAST!...

Will list just a few.... don't want to bore you all to death!

As you can see I am the most horrible photographer (I use that word loosely). LOL. But as my son would say is is what it is and these are my memories. The pictures may not be much, but the memories will always be there. I have journaled in detail each event. The journaling is even on the backs of my layouts. I have a tendency to get a bit wordy. Have you noticed? Some of my favorite things to scrap about is my father and Miss V (his great granddaughter). Dad will be 84 on Monday and he acts like he is 60 or younger. He still gets down in the floor and gives her pony rides on his back. All she has to do is say Grandpa come play with me and nothing else is important to him but doing her bidding. LOL A little spoiled i would say... Both of them!
