Will I Make It By January 20th?

I am going to be taking some much needed time to get caught up with things that I absolutely have to get done before I have surgery on my hand in January. The doctor says it will be 6 weeks before I will have full use of it, but I'm hoping it won't be that long. Don't know if I can go without crafting for that length of time. LOL. Since Christmas Day I have been busily trying to get my Christmas photos scrapped so I can get all my Christmas stash put away until next year. Also need to get an anniversary card made for hubby and 2 birthday cards, one for my dad and one for my brother. I can't figure out where the time has gone. So far I have scrapped 12 8x8 pages of my hubby's family of Christmas day and I have scrapped 7 12 x 12 pages of my family's Christmas Eve , 8 12 x 12 pages of miscellaneous through out the year. I still have my granddaughter's Christmas Play at church and her birthday to scrap. Hopefully I will get those done. I still haven't scrapped last years Christmas for my family. LOL and I have some digital scrapping to do for this years family reunions. Those are started but not complete. Do you think I will make it by January 20th?

Four More Sleeps

Today my granddaughter told me that Christmas would be here in 4 more sleeps. That is how since she was 2 years old has measured time. (She just turned 4). She will be an angel in the Christmas Pagent at Church this evening. Hummmmm.....

As I sat in church this morning and listened to the choir sing and as the congregation joined in on Silent Night I reflected on what it must have felt like to know that you were giving birth to the Savior of the world. I cannot imagine what must have been going through Mary's mind that night. I would have been thinking, I am sure, that surely for someone so great there must be a place other than a lowly manger for my child to lay his head. I probably would have been full of resentment for mankind in general. Mary showed us all about humility. I wonder if Mary really knew about the things that her son would have to endure? I thought about how much I whine and whimper when things happen to my son and yet they are nothing compaired to what Jesus would endure in the 33 years of His life here on Earth. I am not making a resolution for this year, but I am going to TRY everyday to be more thankful for what I have, because everything I have is due the the loving mercy of God.

I had written a few lines about how we tend to keep Jesus as a babe in the manger, but for the life of me I can't find what I wrote. If you could see my desk you would understand why I can't find it. LOL

The general idea is how at Christmas we tend to put Him in the manger, leave Him there until Easter and then forget that He has risen for the rest of year. I for one know, that He is no longer in the manger and no longer in the tomb, but sitting at the right hand of my Father making intercession for me. To me that is what Christmas is all about. So with this rather lengthy post I wish you and yours A Blessed Merry Christmas and All God's wonderful Blessings for the New Year!

Christmas is Fast Approaching

I can't believe that as I write this Christmas is only 8 days away. Am I ready? Nope, not me. No packages wrapped, shopping isn't finished, cards aren't in the mail. I just don't know where the time has gone. I haven't had time to enter any challenges either. I'm going into withdrawl, however I really have been busy.

This week I made 12 of these lovely "Snowman Soup" mugs using the template from They are so adorable and such a thoughtful little gift when you have so many to give to. My granddaughter has about 12 teachers, between gymnastics, pre-school, Sunday School, Awanas, Junior Church and Junior Church Choir. At the age of 4 she has such a social life. LOL . She was so excited to "help" me make them. She counted out all the little bags and all the candy kisses, then put them in the cups as I finished them. We had such a lovely time making them together. To me that is what Christmas is about.

Next, I covered this paint can with Christmas Scrapbooking paper out of my stash and made a paper poinsettia for the lid. Trimmed the can with ribbon and it was complete. Such a cute quick idea for wrapping outside the box. I got the idea from an e-zine, but can't for the life of me remember what one it is. My hubby's family is having a "White Elephant" gift exchange and this is what I am using to "wrap" my "white elephant" in. Such a clever idea.

My mother seldom ever askes me to make cards for her because she thinks I am too busy (but have repeatedly told her I am never too busy for my mom). She wanted something really, really special to send to their church congregation for Christmas. This is the card that I came up with. The template was from a card that a friend made. I used the song "Away In A Manger" for the background for the inside of the card. I printed it on cream parchment paper, then crumbled it, straighted it out, inked it with antique linen distress inks. Used a decoupage from I am not one for peel offs, but needed to add something and they seemed to work well. Also used see - through holly stickers from my stash as those are my mom's favorite. Since I am not much of a photographer this picture really doesn't do the card justice.

Sorry for the long post. I'll try to keep them shorter in the future.

Totally Scrumptious Blog Candy

Be sure to stop byBeas/ and see the wonderful blog candy she has put up to win. She has some wonderful magnolias and that is all I'm going to say...LOL. Good Luck

I'm On A Roll....

Wow does this look washed out! It really isn't. I used this delicious sketch from Friday Sketchers . I also used Basic grey paper (Sultry) and added a charm so that it would fit the criteria for the Basic Grey Challenge . I love this image from Whiff of Joy. I colored it using prisma color pencils and gamsol blending spirits. The flowers are prism and bazzill. The lace gems and charm is all from my stash box. I also inked the edges of the paper with Distress ink, antique paper.

This simple card is so pretty in real life, especially if you like pink, which I do. Who could tell...right? I used the sketch from iheart2stamp.
The paper is from DCWV-glitter sweet stack. Ribbon, flower center and gem from my stashbox, Flowers - Michaels Bridal Table Confetti, Rubber Stamp - Inkadinkado, Ink- Memento, Bamboo Leaves.

For this card I used the sketch from Our Creative Corner. I colored the Whiff of Joy stamp with prisma color pencils and gamsol to blend. The paper I am sorry to say, but cannot remember what website I got it from, but is is beautiful. The flowers are prism and kaisercraft. Center brads, embellishment and ribbons from my stash box. I also inked the edges of my paper with antique linen.

Everybody Art Challenge

I have made this card using all scraps from my stashbox. So there is not major technique or interesting embellishments that I have used. I just saw the papers and ribbons lurking in that box and thought they would fit the challenge for everybody-art-challenge, provided I am not too late to enter. Even if I am, it was a fun sketch to use.

No Christmas Cards

Did you ever have such a wonderful evening of crafting only to find out the next morning that while all that creative juice was flowing so freely you forgot to write the checks to pay the bills? Well that is what happened to me, so once I get these posted I'm off to do some damage control. LOL
Anyway you look at it, this was much more fun!

Fell in love with this image. I don't think the scan really does it justice.
I used the sketch from Friday Sketchers
Supplies used
paper, simply elegant, papermania, EK success corner punch, Yasutomo water colors (like twinkling H20's) flowers, prism, brads from stash box

This image is part of what I won from Bev's blog candy at All The Things I Love. So easy to work with. I used the sketch from I Heart To Stamp. Great Sketch
Supplies used

paper, K&Co Christmas cheer, prisma flowers, Michaels Bridal table confetti flowers, brads, glitter, ribbon and charm from stash box. WOJ stamp colored with copic markers and glitter pen for the wings.

I promise this is it for now. Again I used Willow from WOJ (I adore this stamp). I didn't want to
use it as Christmas so I covered up the holly berries with purple
gems and added some squiggles. I have used the sketch from Sketch Saturday # 27 I colored her with copic, prisma markers, & Spica At you glitter pens.

Supplies used:
Paper, Basic Grey, flowers, Michaels bridal table confetti, punch from punch bunch for leaves, ribbon from my stash box.

Advent Calendar

katharina from Advent Calendar is having a lovely idea for an advent calendar. Just stop by her blog and check out all the details.

Black Friday Challenge

Again, I haven't a clue what I did or how I did it, but I stamped the skirt part of the image x2. LOL.. The more I looked at it the more I decided that I liked how it looked so I colored it with prisma color pencils. As I didn't want it to be Christmas I added flowers where the holly bits on the stamp were. While I was blog hopping I saw a challenge for Black Friday Something Challenge/ just needed to be something black in the layout so I thought this fit pretty well.
Supplies Used: Paper DCWV- All dressed up, pearls - Mark Richards, Flower from my stash box, Ribbon from stash.

New Stamps/ 5 Challenges

I was so excited this past week because my new Whiff of Joy stamps came. I couldn't wait to start stamping, but alas there is something about this stamp that doesn't like me. I stamped it 3 times and all 3 times it went into the circular file! Yep even after it was colored. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but....You get the idea. I colored the image with copic markers E 51, R46, R 59. Prisma pencils and very inexpensive Darice Glitter, crystal.

Finally I was pleased with how this one turned out so I thought it would make a lovely aperture card and found that it fit the challenge for Basic Grey Challenge 13. The requirement there was to have one Basic Grey element and an aperture. Also it fit Lili Of The Valley/ for sprinkle and sparke because of the glittered snowflakes and the spica glitter pens. ABC Challenge, S is for snow, Our Creative Corner snowflakes, Everybody Art Challenge winter. I can't believe that it fit so many challenges. I have never done this many challenges with one card before.

Supplies used:

Whiff of Joy Stamp, Copic Markers, Spica glitter pens, Basic Grey - Boxer, snowflakes - Martha Stewart punch, Darice glitter and flower from stash box. Flower center from my blog candy prize from All the Things I love blog

WOJ Bookmark Challenge

Talk about being on the same wave-length as WOJ! I have needed to make 3 bookmarkers and have just been putting it off. I wasn't motivated, but this has given me the motivation I needed to get them finished. One down and two to go! I chose for this one to do a basic book marker. I colored my image with a mixture of copics, distress inks and prisma watercolor pencils. I wanted it to match my background paper as closely as possible. I almost succeeded! LOL Maybe next time.
Supplies Used: ribbon and embellishments from my stash box. Paper K&co. Martha Stewart Doily border punch. Flowers, Michaels bridal table confetti. Verse?? I have no idea where I got it. Just thought it was fitting to use.

Basic Gray Challenge

I love Basic Grey paper and have been playing with the idea of using this Boxer Series on something. Then I came across a Basic Grey Challenge Blog and decided to enter my card there. The challenge this week is to use at least one item of Basic Grey and to use embossing. I embossed the center strip using the cuddle bug , then inked the raised embossing with black soot ink to give it more definition. The tag was just cut out of white card stock, antiqued with Color box, chalk, creamy brown, then edged in black soot.
The image was sent to me by a friend in an image swap. Truly love this image. I colored it using prisma color pencils and copic markers. Some of the areas I blended, but some I left unblended and love the affect it made.
Supplies used: Basic Grey - Boxer, charm, cord and sliver dots from my stash box.

Finally! An Update On My Hubby

I say finally, because I can't believe how slowly the doctors have moved on trying to help my husband since his TIA/stroke in August. He went for a sleep study in September, then to several different doctors. Finally last week he saw a doctor who the minute my hubby left the office must have started calling to get things rolling, because the minute he walked in the door the phone started ringing off the hook, with people setting up appointments for him. We found out my husband stops breathing over 200 times in one hour. I know he stopped breathing a lot, but not in my wildest dream did I ever think it was that much. There are four levels of severity in a sleep study and obviously my hubby falls in the worst category. These episodes can cause strokes, so not to be taken lightly. Also if the carotid sensors ever stop sending a message to the brain telling you to breathe then....well you can guess the outcome of that. This evening they delivered is C-pap machine. It came with live full instructions. The gentleman who delivered it was so nice and answered our every question and told us they were their to answer any questions 24/7! Not a recording but a real live person. I am so relieved to know that finally my husband may be getting the help he needs.

I am so thankful for this wonderful news and my prayer of Thanksgiving cannot be said enough.
God truly watches over us and protects us more than we ever imagine. Can you believe that over 200 times each hour every night that God has time to watch over my husband and keep him safe? Mind boggling isn't it? When I think about this I am so reminded of what a merciful God I serve.

Wow, I can't believe how slow I am in posting my cards lately, in fact so slow that some of them didn't get posted in time for the challenges. I really don't know where the time goes. This is my challenge entry this week for WOJ . What another fun sketch to work with. I colored the image with distress inks by Tim Holtz, then highlighted with Spica at you markers and of course added my glitter. I am on one of those kicks this year. I just can't seem to get enough glitter! LOL
Supplies Used;
Background Papers: K&Co, Me & My Big Ideas
ribbon: from my stash
flowers: prima
flower centers: from my stash
Gold center dots: Mark Richards

Friday Sketchers # 28 Challenge Mumur

I colored this image some time ago and wondered why I chose these particular colors. I didn't have a clue how I was going to turn it into a card, but then this week with the launch of the new Cd's from Making Handmade Cards, I finally had the most wonderful papers for the background. This was a tough challenge from Mumur's Sketch as there were so many elements, but once I got started it wasn't too bad.

I'm Such a Bad Blogger Lately

Just so you know I truly would love to have time to sit and blog, plus create cards. I'm going through crafting withdrawl here! Helping to get the house ready for our kids to move into is a bigger challenge than I expected it to be. (Not really but it seems to be going ever so slowly). I have worked so hard for the last 2 weeks that I have worn my resistence down AGAIN! and now have the flu! Can't seem to win in this household. LOL No happy medium anywhere. I was able to hang the border for our son's office yesterday, but that was it before I had to give it up and go home and back to bed. After I pick Miss V up at Pre-School today she and I will go over and I will see if I can clean the tape off the hardwood floors where the previous owners taped down rugs?????? I can say we are basically finished with the downstairs and are now working on the upstairs bedrooms and bath.

I truly wish I could find time to make cards and enter challenges, but with all that is going on, I am realizing I am not "superwoman" and right now my kids need help if they are going to be out of their apartment by the 31st. Please don't give up on me. I promise to be back as soon as I can.

Hugs to all of you

Need To Bring You All Up To Date

I have been so busy, I haven't had time to breathe or at least it feels that way lately! I just finished an order for 100 Christmas Cards and I am so sick of them I didn't take one picture! LOL. I know it is only October 1st, but I wanted to have them done as my son and DIL finally got the keys for their house today! Woo Hoo! I am so proud of them. They have been married 6 years, last week, and have overcome some great odds in that 6 years. Today is DIL's birthday so she got a wonderful birthday gift. God has been good to them and to us too! Anyway we will be helping them move house over the next month. It was then I realized that the holidays would then be upon us. I will probably buy(did I say that) my Christmas cards this year. It will be the first time in many years, do what you have to do.

Hubby is doing well and on the mend so I thank God everyday for taking such good care of my soul mate and best friend.

I will probably have to have surgery within the next 2 months on my wrist, thumb and ring finger. Not looking forward to that, but the injections are no longer helping so I guess it is time to think about fixing the problem rather than a stop-gap measure.

We also got our influenza injections today, so that is out of the way for another year! I hate those injections! Since they are given on a first come first serve basis at the local pharmacy you stand in line and wait and wait and wait. I feel like cattle being run through the shoot. LOL Enough! It has been a great day.
Hugs to all of you.

Sketch Satruday # 16

At 2:30 this morning I was wide awake! Since I couldn't sleep I thought I would make another card to see if that would help me with my insomnia! Here is what I accomplished. I used the sketch from

BG papers - Dovecraft Victorian Christmas

Stamped image was sent to me by my friend, so I don't remember who she told me it was (my mind is only 1/2 min long most days!) LOL

Check This Blog Out

If you are someone who loves stitching you will certainly want to stop by and visit this new blog. Her stitching is superb and her cards are fantastic. Congratulations Sam on your new blog.

3 Challenges in 1

I just couldn't let this evening go by without trying to make one more card. I think the "Jo" out of my mojo has gone somewhere or maybe it is just lack of energy. LOL Whatever it is, I wish my mojo would come back. I really enjoyed using the sketch from PTW, Sketch #11. Since I was in the mood to use fall colors I thought why not include a challenge from Rainbow Lady's Challenge Blog #30. The challenge there is to include at least one stamp. I stamped the leaf background. The next challenge that seem to fit was from Sarah Kay Weekly Challenges . Their challenge this week was to use 3 designer papers. Not sure that my paper with stamped leaves will pass as desiger, but am hoping so. I really wish the glittering on the leaves would show up, but no matter how I take the picture that sparkle never comes through!

BG Papers Debbie Mumm Harvest & Holiday
Ribbon - Bow - Tique
Stamp - an oldie but one I love... No name just says Chesapeake VA
Shades of Autum glitter - Art Institute ultra fine transparent. (used 5 0r 6 colors)

SK rubber stamp colored with prisma color pencils
misc. matting paper.

Blog Candy up for Grabs

Why not pop over to All the things I love and see the great things Bev has up for grabs, including at stmap from Whiff of Joy. If you haven't checked out her blog be sure to do so she has so many inspirational cards. You'll be glad you did

I Can't Believe Its Wednesday

I truly cannot believe it is Wednesday and I have done NO crafting. I really must not be up to par. LOL! I needed an anniversay card for my son & DIL so thought I would use the sketch from I lovede the sketch and thought it would be ideal for what I had in mind. I was pretty lazy though. I used a pinted picture of roses for the center rather than stamp and even pulled out the peel offs.

All supplies were from my scrap and stash box, so I have no idea what I used. The stamp around the roses was from See D's. Embossed with black detail embossing powder from Judikins.

Sooooo Behind

Just thought I would take a minute to post. I had to go to the doctor on Tuesday of this past week. Ugh! She changed my meds in hopes of helping to make my Fibro and fatigue better, made things worse. LOL! I had a reaction to the medication and almost ended up in the hospital. I truly thank God that didn't happen. Just goes to show, one more time, He was in control of my life. I am feeling much better but not near 100% . (I'll take any of amt of feeling better I can get. LOL)! I can't seem to get my mind around scrapbooking or cardmaking at the moment and am trusting it is a passing thing and will improve as my body rids its self of the medication.

Blessings to all of you!

2 Great Sketches

Wowzers! Yesterday while blog hopping I found this fantastic blog that offers a sketch and a bonus sketch at the same time. Thought I would try my hand at both of these and this is what I came up with. I have been wanting to use this paper so thought now would be a good time to do so.
BG Paper DCWV All dressed up Glittered
Magnolia stamp colored with prisma pencils
ribon from stash

This is the bonus sketch from

and I thought I would have a go at another challenge from
I found this to be an interesting and mind challenging site. I love it!
Your inspirational piece on tresure sure stepped on my toes.

For my card I have used plain white cardstock, covered with Anita's blue Christmas music paper in dark blue. Then added Mirror paper in silver (thus the bad photo). Used cuttlebug embossing folder, hearts, fiskars border punch, silver metallic beads, silver ribbon for the tag. Image is stamp from Chesapeake, VA (no name on stamp, but it is one of my favs), stamped with Dew Drop Brilliance Meteterranean Blue and pop -dotted on mirror paper. Treasure stamp (?)

I have used these elements to depict the scripture that I have chosen to go with the theme word treasure. Matthew 6:21 For where your treasure is there will be your heart also.

This sketch is from and the challenge from was stamp something Fall. This time I got a 2fer! LOL

BG Paper - DCWV - Fall Matt Stack & Debbie Mumm Harvest & Holiday
Ribbon - From my stash

Matt understamp is orange Bazzill Bling.
